I am pregnant with baby #3, my third daughter and neither of my older daughters are baptized and have Godparents bc I'm not close to anyone like that, I know if something happened to me they'll be cared for just fine, of course not how I care for them but they'd have their needs met...I'm not stressing about it though, good luck with your decision and don't be too hard on yourself

Godparents are not necessarily the legal guardians of your child should something happen to you. The godparents of my child are there to be parents in faith to help raise them in our religion. If something were to happen to my husband or I all of my children would go to my parents.

@kmally, @lp1988727 yeah that's true but who ever I pick would be who my children go to . I would not choose my parents ....

@lp1988727, that's what I'm saying -- my husband and I both have a living will thru the military and a parenting plan so whoever we choose (if we choose) would obviously go in there

That makes sense. I just chose someone other than the actual godparents because my children will have different sets of godparents but I wouldn't want my children getting separated if something happened to us if that makes sense?

My first sons god parents are my brother his wife and my sister inlaw my son im pregnant for now is our best friends who will be married in april 2016 but both families are aware that if somthing were to happen to me and my husband the kids would go to our best friends who would raise them as their own the reason we choose this way is its where our children would be most comfortable they may not be blood but they are family and formal paper work will be getting filled out about it

@lucky20074, yeah I wanna choose people who will still honor us as parents should anything bad happen ... It's so tough and where family is concerned I just don't agree with a lot my family's parenting styles

That was my issue too you raise your kids a certain way and i respect that our friends see that and treat our children as we do when were not right there
