5 reasons why I want to try to go natural:
1. I'm nervous about actually receiving the epidural. I know some women say it's nothing compared to contractions, but still others say it hurt worse than contractions!
2. I don't want to risk back problems in the future because of the epidural.
3. Sometimes it takes multiple tries for the epidural to wok, sometimes it only works for one half of the body, and sometimes it doesn't work at all! So why go through all that for nothing?
4. I don't want to have to get a catheter which is required with an epidural.
5. I want a quicker/easier recovery.
But....my husband, and pretty much every woman in my family who had an epidural is telling me to just take the drugs 😒 My husband doesn't think I can handle the pain/doesn't want to see me in that much pain. I just wish I had more support for going this route. I know it would make it a lot easier if I was hearing things like "you can do this!" Instead of "just take the drugs" 😔
My mom told me it slowed down her labor with my sister and I should try n tough out the pain. I am trying to go natural too.
My epidural got messed up and I had to get a blood patch (HORRIBLE) and I suffered from spinal migraines for almost two weeks after my son was born, I couldn't even help take care of him 😭💔 If you can go all natural do it girl!
Exactly. So research side effects and do a pro and cons list. I just recommend basing your decision on whats proven based on facts. For example, if its proven 10% of women get back issues are you willing to risk being in that percentage? Or are you willing to risk the pain.
@ayana4444, you're welcome! 😘
@cassie2136 I'm planning a water birth also! Mind if I pick your brain?
I have done both with and without. I regretted getting the epidural with my first two kids bc of side effects. I had my son natural and labored in the water which was awesome. It was painful at the end had me in tears but it was fast and the pain was gone as soon as he was out.
Girl you can and will do anything you put your mind to! Childbirth is different for everyone. I personally am gonna go the natural route, for all the reasons you listed and also because I want the experience myself. Everyone will have an opinion on what you should and shouldn't do. Inform yourself on all choices and then you can make a decision based on that. It's going to be extremely painful that's not a lie but remember our bodies were built to experience this.
I actually had my second child natural the pain hurt but in the end it was worth it with my first child I received a epidural and everything went smoothly it wasn't that bad as I thought I actually felt nothing but everyone is different. The whole natural delivery I wouldn't change it if I could it was a big experience for me, but I think you can do think you can do it & I also support you 😃!
Oh boy! Ok. I think I have a high level of pain tolerance. But then again I've never given birth! @amberark14
I kind of do regret it because after i brought my baby girl home i would have spine spasms it made me drop to the floor it was so painful i would scream that's why with this pregnancy I'm so scared to go through that again and the catheter hurt do bad cause they inflate a ball in your uterus and the baby kept kicking it i screamed at the nurses get it out! Lol
Check with your hospital/dr there are some hospitals that will do iv drugs and some use laughing gas
@shortiebs, that's good advice. It's just hard because all the research in the world still can't predict how it will be for you. Cuz like you said everyone is different
@is rnawest, yes, you're right. And I I'm totally open to an epidural if I really feel like I can't handle the pain
@kmrie, tysm! That's what I keep telling myself. That women have been doing this for years and our bodies can handle it! 😊
@amberark14, do you regret getting the epidural since you still felt everything?
Research, talk to your doctor. Watch videos of the procedures. Dont go by what other people say. EVERYONE is different. Everyone reacts differently, but research what side effects epidurals are proven to have not just what people tell you. Think about what you want and what you are will to sacrifice
If you can I hear it is the best feeling in the world to have your baby with little to no assistance... If you think you can do it go for it! I was just saying to someone that was what I wanted but ended up not happening that way... Know your limits
You have my support!! You can do this mama! 😘❤️ I had my first all natural and I'm so glad I did! 😘❤️
You can do this! I'm hoping to all natural to I'm very nervous iv never gave birth before idk what to expect but everyone keeps saying your body was made to go through this an knows what to do... Kinda makes it alittle better but it is hard when people close to you are telling you how to handle it you do you whatever you need !
Do what's best for yourself girl. The epidural didnt hurt to bad but even though i got the epidural i still felt everything its very painful but they can give you iv pain meds witch would be better than an epidural. Just be prepared to have your husband by your side.because it will be pretty painful and will make you very weak
I feel EXACTLY the same way. Literally every person that I've told that I want to go all natural has laughed at me and said I was crazy and said that I'm not going to be able to do it! it really sucks and doesn't make you feel good at all. But F them.... We can do this! @ayana4444
