You can lose your mucus plug at any point in your pregnancy. Sometimes it'll grow back if it's too soon. As for what it looks like, it can be anywhere from a watery discharge to a snot like discharge. Sometimes it'll have a tinge of red to it and others it will be yellow or clear.
