Questions for you mommies that have been induced. I'm 39 weeks today. I want to ask my doctor on Wednesday at my appointment if he will induce me. I had 5 hours of contractions last night and they sent me home because I'm not progressing past a 1 and 80% effaced. I've heard induction is more painful than natural, how many of you had to have a C section even after being induced? And if you didn't have to have one, how long did your labors last? I definitely want to be induced...she's ready but my body just can't handle doing it on its own apparently.

Everyone is different for my mom she said being induce just made her contractions waaaaayyy stronger than natural but idk This was my first pregnancy and I had to be induced at 36 weeks 6 days for preeclampsia and my labor was super fast but I was already a 4 and 50% effaced I was in labor for 5 hours and pushed for like 10 mins and I'm good with pain but the contractions did suck , I didn't get my epidural till I was a 6-7 then it was a breeze!

My friend had c-sections with both her children and the way she explained the pain to me is exactly how it feels if you gave birth vaginally.

The pitocin should help! It makes contractions stronger so it should push the baby down as well as thin your cervix and dilate you! It is known that women who get induced are more likely to have a c-section, but if you have a c-section its ok! Don't doubt yourself. It's all painful either way but the experience is amazing!! My labor was 7 hours and it was like 15 minutes of pushing but I got very lucky! Your body may surprise you.

@jenii, I can barely walk right now from the pelvic pain. I don't think my body is responding the way it should and I can't take not being able to be on my feet. I'm very active and like to do housework and have a 5 month old German Shepherd that I take for walks and I can't do any of that right now.

I was induced with my son and 3 days later it ended with a cesarean. Not sure if induction played a part or not

@mrsgreenwood, if I have to go with pitocin I will absolutely be getting an epidural. If my normal contractions suck as much as they do, I want to make sure I feel as little as possible.

everyone's body is different I think my son was stuck for a while because of my pelvis I was fully dilated and everything he just wouldn't come out with this pregnancy I'm supposed to be induced too but so far things are going naturally so I have till the end of next week to have her or I'm getting induced don't be nervous I think the only reason people say inductions suck is because the contractions get stronger than natural other than that everything else is the same

Everyone is different i only had 12 hour labor with my second and pushed 5 times and my first it was 14 hours and pushed 3 times. I didnt like being induced cause you cant get out of bed for nothing, but for the pain it was annoying with my first baby but with my daughter i didn't feel any contractions i got my epidural at 3:30pm at 5cm (i didnt want too feel her head coming out) and she was out by 4:54pm.

@arielmarietalks, I feel like my body may not respond correctly without pitocin. I've been at a 1 and 80% effaced for 3 weeks. Baby isn't engaged or moving down and I was having such strong back labor last night I was in tears.

I was induced with my first. You can tell them that you don't want pitocin(however you spell it) because that does make labor way worse. They can break your water and let you progress naturally. That's what they did for me!

Thank you @jenii I'm very nervous about this. I really wanted to go natural but I have been in so much pain and have been having strong contractions for weeks that just go away on their own. I'm worried I won't have the energy to care for my baby once she comes so I wanted to go ahead with induction to get her out before I'm too exhausted.
