So I wanted to share this cause I've had questions like "why are her hands purple in her newborn pics, why was she smaller than we thought, etc"... so on the day I had hazel everything was great. She was moving and had a solid heartbeat and everything went so smooth with surgery. Surgery started at around 4:45 and she was born less than 10 mins later at 4:52. When they went to pull her out they said she had big cheeks and I kept smiling. And then I heard her first cry and I was so overwhelmed with emotions. But I only heard one cry. I heard the doctors start arguing but i couldn't understand what it was about. Alex was standing next to the baby bassinet and they brought her over and they told him he needed to step back. I still didn't hear anything.

I kept pushing the blue curtain back so I could see and I noticed she was purple. I watched them come over with tubes and oxygen and start shoving things in her throat and putting the mask over her face and rubbing her back and stomach while laying her on her side telling her to "breathe baby" . They took the oxygen mask and was hitting her back over and over again and putting it back on her face they kept shouting numbers and they called the respiratory therapists and NICU to come help. They immediately came and started working on her. And after 6 long mins of her not breathing they finally got her okay. She failed her absgar 2x and barely passed the 3rd. I couldn't believe what just happened.... I didn't get to hold her while in surgery like I did with paisley but that's ok. We all got to hold her about an hour after she was born. I asked what happened and they explained that my gestational diabetes made my baby larger than she actually was supposed to be and in reality she was early and her lungs basically collapsed cause she didn't know how to breathe. she's hairy and she had all the signs of being born at 36/37weeks so she was pretty big for being early. I'm glad she stayed in till my c-section date! She's doing great now though. ♡
