Okay ladies I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. my bf has always wanted to name his first son after him and I was fine with that before I got pregnant now that there's a 50% chance of having a boy I really don't like the name for my son. I am not going to mention any of this to him unless we are for sure that this baby is a boy. but it's like eating me up inside. I love the name for my bf but not for my baby. how do I tell him this without him freaking out? thanks in advance ladies.

I went through something similar. We had a for sure boy name after a deceased relative and I changed my mind about it. It took some time and lots of talking about but daddy finally admitted he felt the same way.
🙌🏻🙌🏻my fiancé is the same. He's Portuguese and every man in the family names their first son after them self. I reaaaaaally am hoping it's a girl. Not just because I'm not a huge fan of the name, but when I'm telling someone off I don't want any confusion as to whom I'm talking too😉.

I understand he wants the 3rd and everything, but even legally that gets messy. The irs has messed up the brother in laws credit because they confused him and his father. but idk I have no other advice if he's so stuck on passing the whole name instead of just first and last @firsttimemommy89 . hope you figure it out :(
My son's name will be James after his dad's middle name and his great grandpa's middle name and I picked James' middle name. Your man has a crazy unique and old school name so I can see where you'd be a little standoffish but with it being a family name I see why he'd be adamant about it. What if you Google modern versions of those names or names that have similar meaning so the meaning of the name is there but in your baby's own way? Hopefully you have a baby girl to avoid the stress! lol
hmmm tell him you get to pick part of the name too! compromise is how you have a healthy relationship. What name do you like? Something like Cornelius Ethan Tolbert sounds good to me.
the sad part is I'm not happy with the middle name either. my bf wants the baby (if it's a boy ) to be Cornelius Conard Tolbert the 3rd. I'm not a fan of the middle name either. maybe I'm just picky but idk @mommapint
Well you can do what my hubby's family did. Their first son has the family name eugene, but he ALWAYS goes by his middle name except legal documents. Actually their whole family goes by their middle names. That way your bf can be happy passing down the name and you can be happy too
I just feel like he wants it so bad, if I ever talked him out of it I would constantly be reminded of how I took that from him. compromise I guess. when we have another I get to name the girl.
exactly! if I knew my bf would dip out I wouldn't feel bsd about naming the baby whatever but he's gonna be around and be a great dad that I feel like I'm somehow betraying him @simpsonv54

I am due with a boy in july. its our first child.and he has been stuck on naming his son after him. ive tried everything to get him to change his mind and he won't budge! ive gotten to the point that I think I would feel bad if I talked him into something else bc of how bad he wants it.
Yeah that's stuff. I know for my husband it was a huge deal to have his son named after him! Must be a guy thing! I hope it all works out :)
That's what I was thinking but to me Cornelius doesn't seem like a good middle name. I don't even know anymore ugh. @emilywebb
You could always use it as a middle name and still get to pick the name you like that's what we were going to do if we had a boy!

I don't have a baby boy. I would like to know personally how do you moms feel about people treating there sons like girls as in taking them to nail salons and getting pampered ect.... I think it's important for ladies to remember your not raising a little boy. At the end of the day your raising a man. If I have a son I just want to raise him to be the best man he can be. I won't treat him to the same things I would my daughter and vice versa.😕

Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
ladies help! my SO wants our baby boy to be named after him and i personally dont like the idea of having a Jr but i would be okay making the babies middle name his first name but he doesn't want to compromise am i being unreasonable for fighting him on this ?
Eventually you will be able to decide on a name I compromised he wanted a junior but I didn't so I found Kyson and he loved it and I told him he could have the middle name it worked out
