if it smells like amonia it's urine if it has no smell or smells sweet it's your water if your water was broken you'd keep leaking and it's hard to hold in the liquid it would just come out

@14emathews, keep us updated. I didn't start contractions on my own. After 10 hours they finally gave me petocin (I know I spelled it wrong). Good luck.

@soontobemommy nope when I stand up nothing flows out. just got pressure and cramping at the moment :/ @bengsmom10 :o omg that's scary!! I think I'll go in now! Dilation can speed up at any moment girl! That feeling Ur describing sounds like it. Go to l&D to get checked out! Keep us posted!! Can't believe it's Ur turn already!!! :))

@14emathews, that's how my water broke. By the time the hospital agreed to check me I was out of fluid. No contractions though. I'd go to your OB or hospital just to be on the safe side. Had the hospital sent me home, my son would have died because they can only last 12 hours without fluid without brain damage, 24 without life. Good luck.

You dont need to be dilated for your water to break! I wasnt dilated at all at 41 weeks and my water broke

No problem good luck. another thing I took my time getting there. I straightened and showered knowing once the water broke I wasn't coming home and I'll be there all day..

I visited the Dr last time found out I was 1 cm. 1am that following morning laying n bed. I got a little wet. spoke to Dr he instructed me to put a pad on if it's soaked n 10 mins my water broke.. I called him back n 3 mins. hope this is helpful

@sgomez0606 oh geez! its stopped for now and as I'm laying on my left side, I just have super sharp back pain with pressure and the once in a while cramp. my son is moving a lot though. he's not usually this active this time of night

I would either call labor and delivery or go to the hospital it could've been your water leaking @14emathews

@_akgirl oh geez! what do I do?? it hurts to even walk the maybe 15footsteps to the toilet in the bathroom. :/ I looked online and some people said water breaking is either: a gush, a popping followed by flowage of water, or little spurts. I haven't had the first two. *inhales* I secretly wish I had an obgyn as a family member right now. maybe I'm freaking out and its nothing??

just breathe. it WILL be ok. everything WILL work itself out. focus on you and your baby. extra stress now isn't good.
