go by the 5-1-1 rule. contractions are five minutes apart lasting a minute for one hour. if they come and go you're just having braxton hicks. try laying on your side with your feet propped up and drink some cold water and see if they keep going.

@jadon, You are most likely in the early stages of labor which can last for a while. I was having contractions and went to the hospital and told me I was 1cm and sent me home to walk. I went back a few hours later and I was 2cm and they sent me home again to walk. Finally that night I took a hot bath and I started getting sick from the pain and that's when they admitted me. I was still in labor for another 45 hours before my daughter was delivered by CS. It can be a long slow process. Hopefully things start happening fast for you Momma!

nooo. girl I had contractions for two days until they kept me. it takes a loonngg time for most women to have a baby. the movies make it seem like u have to rush to the hospital but that's so not the case. i had a particularly long labor 2 days 17 hrs but most women it takes AT LEAST 6-8 hrs and that's after their water broke naturally. your still in early labor. wait it out at home until they get really close together and really extreme or your water breaks. it could be hours or days

I had contractions for two days before I was really in labor. just rest and watch for the closer contractions. baby will be here soon.

@delilahsmommy2.22, I thought that once u where having contractions.. u would go in labor zz no matter how far apart they are ..

that's normal. wait until contractions are at least 3 min apart/water breaks/bloody show
