If you decide to try baby food and it just dribbles out of their mouths and they don't swallow it all... They are not ready. Six months is what the WHO recommends, for breastfeeding babies anyways. Babies tummies are highly sensitive and it takes about 6 months to create that protective coating on their digestive systems.

My nephew didn't eat much food for a long time. He just wasn't interested. My dd decided Thanksgiving was a good time to start, so at 5months we did. She is 1 in three weeks and she eats _everything_! My sister sees her eat and is amazed she eats so much lol Started on avocado, egg yolk, and banana.

It's been awhile but I believe at 5 months we tried rice cereal, and by 7 months maybe we moved on to puffs && jarred veggies. Unfortunately I never wrote down what I did with my son so I have to try and think back to when he was little. But I would definitely say don't just stick to breast milk/formula for the first year. You'll be miserable because the little one will always be hungry. It's awesome seeing their baby faces when they try new foods for the first time anyway.
