Nurse just called from doctor office and said my blood worked showed I was low on vitamin D (26)..sending a prescription to my pharmacy now to take once a week up until I'm 28wks..she didn't give me time to ask questions.. is this harmful to baby? It being low? never had this b4. 😨

vitamin D makes it so you're body can absorb calcium, without it then calcium just goes right through you. I wouldn't get too stressed about it girl :)

I'm a nursing student and the only serious complication I can think of from lack of vitamin D, or Vitamin D deficiency would be Rickets, but that's only in extreme cases. I'm sure you and baby will be absolutely fine!:)

If I'm not mistaken vitamin D helps with bone development. You should be alright as should baby but because you're growing a little precious human being your little one sucks all the good stuff out of what you eat and if it's not high in vitamin D then your little one is getting it from you even if your count is low. That's what my doctor said about my low iron count. I've been on iron supplements since week 30.
