I was induced and it wasn't anything terrible . All it was was some pitocin to get contractions started and than they broke my water .. Just helps you out not everyone's body goes into labor by itself. Stress to the doctor that you would like to go naturally if it can be avoided but sometime for the safety of the baby you need to be induced !

Good for you!! Don't do it - it causes a cycle of unnecessary drugs and is more painful!!

if there is nothing wrong with you or baby tell they asses no you would like the baby to come when ready

why do they want to induce?

I wouldn't be induced unless I went past 41 weeks. Seriously why does it seem like these doctors are in such a rush? Good for you for standing your ground!

I'm very proud of you! Let your body work it's magic. If it isn't medically necessary, there is no need to induce.

@nechalcare45, Sorry that happened to you, it doesn't mean that it will happen to everyone though. Due dates are an estimate, give or take 2 weeks, especially for a first time mother. If I was able to give birth naturally this time around I wouldn't let anyone induce me unless I went past a certain point. It just seems like inducing at 39 weeks is rushed when a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks.

this may be a dumb question but how do they tell how much they baby weighs?
