Hey mommas and preggies. 👋 How ya doing? Me... I got a call from my nurse after i emailed her my sugar levels from this week. she said they were high and I have an appt on Monday to see what's gonna happen. 😒 I don't get it. I'm doing everything right. 😓
you can do everything right and still develop gestational diabetes, dont beat yourself up about it. it'll be okay :)
atleast it's a very small needle but I totally ubderstand about being afraid of them. I hope it all works out for you and you don't have to go on insulin! @mrsvelasquez
@annabanana2005xx That's something I don't wanna do, the insulin. I am terrified of needles. I'm freaked out just by poking my finger, Lol.
I have gd and am on insulin. it's not horrible. just have to stick myself every night before bed along with taking 500 milligrams of metformin at bed time. you get used to it. and when you go up in weeks in pregnancy so does the blood sugars usually. they have upped my insulin dose a couple times to get the fasting levels under 85 in the morning. it is a pain...but it will all be worth it in the end! good luck!
the hormones are blocking the insulin your body produces. if blood sugars keep climbing you may be put on something...doesn't have to be injections. metformin is something they might put you on. just a pill to take with meals that helps. but your dr will go over everything with you...also as soon as you give birth your blood sugars will go back to normal.
you can do everything perfect and still in the 3rd trimester blood sugars will still rise. I'm diabetic and was on a strick diet eating the same things pretty much everyday but as the weeks went on my sugars climbed and they had to increase my insulin doses. sometimes the hormones will block our insulin even more as the weeks go on and there is nothing we do wrong.
I had gd with my last pregnancy and saw a nutritionist who helped me with examples on what to eat. I had to pick my finger after every meal. I was scared at first to do it then it didn't bother me. I'm pregnant again now and not sure if I have it yet since I'm only 8 weeks. Just try and walk and look at sugars and carbs on all the foods you eat. You can even get some recipe ideas online on what to make.
