Am I wrong for getting upset over people shortening my baby girls name? Her first name is going to be Nova-Lynn. Everyone is calling her Nova and I don't like that. I keep asking them to stop and they won't. My girl isn't even here yet and I am starting to think about changing her name... Am I being selfish or overreacting?? Please someone help?

I'm really not a fan of name abbreviations (I hate being called Kim, I'm the only one who calls my nice by her full name and not the short version), so you just keep reminding people that the hyphen does NOT mean it's two separate names. I don't have any advice about hyphened names but I can tell you as someone who made up her kids name it's a pain when people don't understand the name at first but you just keep on correcting and you make sure when the little one is older they can correct people as well.

@doodiemo, smart
They're going to do it regardless no getting around it especially when she starts school
Put it together so they don't have a choice. Make it all one name . ( Novalin ) (Novalynn) idk lol
the person who does it is my future mother in law and she has been corrected several times. It almost seems intentional now. I don't want to change it... Part of her name is after my grandma who passed the day before we found out the gender.. I feel so torn.
we only announced our babies name yesterday and I am already annoyed with people spelling it wrong so I completely understand where you're coming from. I just keep correcting them because I'm not changing my babies name for anyone
My first daughters name is Isabel... It pisses me off when people call her Isabella. That is not her name... I understand
Because it's hyphenated people will most likely shorten it. If it bothers you that much I would definitely consider changing it
