I completely understand.I would go ahead and introduce him to his bed. If you have a playpen or bassinet you could put it right next to your bed and that way he's close. I use to have to pat their tummy or back till they fell asleep.

@junebaby, that's alot of the reason I'd like to transition him early. the plan was not to cosleep at all but it was the only way he'd sleep when we first got him home

I never did co sleeping. I always put them in a bassinet by my bed. Occasionally they would fall asleep next to me though but I was always afraid of SIDS. I have known people who do co sleep though and it is most often a difficult transition, especially once they are much older. I hear people who still have their kids in their bed at 5. If that works for them great but I couldn't do it.
