they will tell you not to eat after a certain time for a c section. if you get induced they usually have you come in the night before and its a slow process of trying to get your cervix to dilate before they start the pitocin so you have time to eat before heading to the hospital.

It's in case of a csection, I didn't eat before my csection and I still threw up and choked on my puke for the first 30 mins until my daughter was born. it was all in my hair and stuff :( pooping is nothing to worry about. if you absolutely want to eat, snack small, water, crackers, etc.

that's the main reason they don't want you to eat in case they have to put you to sleep for an emergency cesearean. they worry about the risk of vomiting and aspiration. most times though everything is fine and if they have to do a cesearean you're usually awake.

some anesthesia can make you nauseated if youre awake. they don't want you to puke when youre strapped down to a table and cant move. they don't want you to choke on vomit.

they don't let you eat in case they need to do an emergency c section. it's surgery and you shouldn't eat before surgery if you have to get one.

you won't even know if you poop. my nurse just pulled the pad off and kept on going. I didn't know till after.

@mmora @mariahappy @junebaby yes I'm being induced... I dont have time to be starving.. I go in at 8pm && he said I'd have baby next day so I will grab something!! lol hopefully I'm not in pain.. I'll eat on the ride there lol @krb0911 if you get an epidural I hear you don't feel any of that... most people don't even know they poop lol

I was induced and I couldn't eat after midnight, I didn't get to eat again until about 10 the next night

I ate the first morning before going into the hospital and being sent home and didn't eat again until day 4 when I finally gave birth. honestly wasn't hungry but even if I was the contractions were too strong to eat through. however after he was born I ate everything I could get a hold of. the nurse that night hated me!! lol

if your being induced though eat a lot before you go because it usually takes awhile.

honestly I wasn't hungry until after. your digestive system slows down while in labor.

But you should be happy they do that because when I was pushing I felt like my butthole was coming out.

yup its true I only had ice chips an I was in labor for 22hrs an didn't eat before hand had no clue I was in.labor

very true! only clear liquids:( we stopped by bushes before going to the hospital but i was in so much pain i didnt even eat

yeah during labor all u get ice chips and popcicles
