My husband and I are planning a Home Birth and we really just want it to be us and the midwife. My MIL will not stop talking about how badly she wants to be there and how she'll be pissed if she doesn't get to see her grandbaby come into the world. I've already said that I would like it to be private but she said "I promise I won't say anything stupid." This is just so frustrating.

@ftm15, It's just hard because we used to be on bad terms but things got better. Since I've gotten pregnant she's just been trying to take over. I don't want to be on bad terms with her again but at the same time I don't want to be walked on.

I completely understand. Well some times it's better to be honest with your feelings than to get walked on you know? I've made it perfectly clear to my husband's family we don't want visitors for the first couple months at out house nothing personal just our preference.

@ftm15, You're right. I wish I was better at standing up for myself. I'm just going to have to be straight up with her. I'm very passive by nature but I'm just going to have to put my big girl panties on and deal with it. lol

I put my foot down with my family and even told them I won't tell them I'm even in labor if they didn't wait for my go ahead of coming to the hospital. I told them this is possibly my last child and I want the experience AGAIN of just my man and I. After we lost our son last year we wanted this to be a private event with no one but is there. Due to complications, I have to be in a hospital setting, but my doctors and nurses are willing to be the "bad guys."
