From research and experience I often wonder what's the purpose of "getting checked" by a doctor a midwife or even yourself. You can go from no dilation one day and into labor the next. Some women are dilated for a specific amount for weeks. The bottom line is no one knows when a woman is going to go into labor. It is a natural mechanism between a baby and its mother that no research or expert has ever been able to answer.
I think you can refuse the pitocin they give you.... if that's what ur worried about. I'm going to go as long as possible without any type of meds going into my body. pitocin can be really dangerous to baby also causesv hard contractions and might force ur body to labor faster then it wants to. I agree tho lol why get checked all the time? except for those who don't kno they are in labor that's the only beneficial thing I see from it.
@meplusmytwo, I'm guessing that's ideal for people to know who wouldn't be comfortable birthing at home. The sad part is If you go to a doctor and depending on how far along you are and are dilated they could send you to a hospital, but what if your body is not continuing dilation in the hospital's time slots? they will try to induce and induction always carries risks. Some people are ok with all of that. I would be cool to just birth at home.
it could be to make sure your not in active labor and don't know it. My sister wasn't having conversations and went to her appointment was 6 cm and had the baby awhile later. But idk
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
@mdomke22, and this is exactly why I think the system should just leave birth alone and only intervene if a mom wants it for emergencies. for the mom who is dilated that much I'm thinking of how great the oxytocin flow must have been without her even being in a medical setting. then we get her all hyped and send her to an icky hospital to birth in the worst position for her and baby- on her back. sounds so counterintuitive. since I'll be birthing at home it would be nice to be in a situation like that where I'm laboring and don't know and then next thing I know I feel baby trying to come out. :)
