It’s almost that time of year when i can eat ohagi!! Ohagi is made from glutinous rice and sweet red bean paste it is eaten during the equinox seasons like the Autumnal Equinox and the Spring Equinox. This tradition dates back to ancient times and is tied to honoring ancestors and celebrating the changing seasons. (Its also called botamochi, too )
I have fond memories of my mom preparing ohagi and other mochi treats when I was a kid. The kitchen would be filled with the smell of sweet beans and rice. It was always a special time for family gatherings. Now, I want to share this tradition with my own kids, keeping those cherished memories and cultural practices alive! My fiancee is trying to buy a new house; our house has SIX ROOMS, but for SOME REASON, he wants a NEW house that's BIGGER. He has a good job and all, but when we first were together, i told him that i never wanted to live in a super big house; im okay with a small 2-3 bedroom house or townhome. I honestly think one of the reasons is because hes trying to compete with his brother on "who can be the most successful " but its just so tiring + with our wedding hes trying to make it this GRAND ROYAL BANQUET lol
I am truly grateful because he is a huge and important part of my story and life. I am so happy for our healthy, beautiful babies. We've had so many conversations about this, but he still just doesn't want to give up; by Oct 2024, he said he wants to buy this house across town that literally has 8-9 rooms.. like, sir? Why? To compete with your brother? I just feel like it's not worth it, nor is it needed. Unless we're gonna have 7 babies, we dont need an 8 bedroom house. (And i am NOT having 7 babies.) 🥲🥲

Im from Japan toi so there isca language barrier at times because my accent is strong and i dont have the same morals or values as most American women so i cant relate.
