It’s almost that time of year when i can eat ohagi!! Ohagi is made from glutinous rice and sweet red bean paste it is eaten during the equinox seasons like the Autumnal Equinox and the Spring Equinox. This tradition dates back to ancient times and is tied to honoring ancestors and celebrating the changing seasons. (Its also called botamochi, too )
I have fond memories of my mom preparing ohagi and other mochi treats when I was a kid. The kitchen would be filled with the smell of sweet beans and rice. It was always a special time for family gatherings. Now, I want to share this tradition with my own kids, keeping those cherished memories and cultural practices alive! When i make mine ill send photos :))
