Stayed with someone for a little bit, and it has me wondering, how much cleaning do you do in your house? Is it normal for lamp shades to be full of dust? Is it not normal to clean window frames? Since I don't have pets. Is it normal to wash pet bowls in the sink at the same time as human dishes, with the same sponge? Is it normal to not change the dish sponge after a month? So many, many questions.
And, do you have many foods in your house that's past the "best by" dates by years... months? Do you have pasta boxes that you open and use half, close and but back in the pantry for months?

Depends on people but I am sensitive to dust so I have to dust weekly. I have pasta half used but use within a few days after and keep it sealed to not encourage pests.I wash the bunny’s bowl in the same sink. I might be crazy but I do not use a sponge for long periods because it starts to get yucky. Sponges hold a lot of bacteria and if you leave them soaked wet between uses it is not good.
What home did you visit that you inspected ?Lol oh wait you said you stayed there for a while.
I have been in homes that made the hime you stayed at sound like the ritz. I am talking roaches everywhere gross.

I know in my case it's a trauma response. I also check my ceiling 😳 seriously, though! It gets stuff on it too especially in the kitchen

I clean almost daily, dust and vacuum and disinfect counters in kitchen and bathroom and door handles and light switches daily. I was pet stuff with ours but in the dishwasher. I change my dish sponge weekly but I dont really hand wash anything. I have two air purifiers running as well. Im a germ freak though so im always cleaning something

I'm not even a germ freak really. Just, some things are the standard... I thought. Even if you dusted twice a year, that would prevent a dust pile up on stuff

if I dusted twice a year the house would be absolutely gross I have to clean everything even weekly like everything for dust piles and builds up. I was my curtains monthly

I clean all the time. Living in the country I am constantly dusting. I wash the dog bowls once a week with my regular dishes but I use a wash cloth to wash them not my dish sponge. I also throw away my sponge weekly and replace it.
I do not keep out of date food and I have plastic food containers for my pasta since I don’t use a whole box at once. If it’s not used relatively quickly I cook it and feed it to my chickens.
I am trying to make myself be better about cleaning the baseboards around the floors.
I also wash my trash can once a month.

Yeah, I thought someone might use a different sponge to wash the different dishes. Or at a minimum change the sponge every 2 weeks. We don't have out of date food, but that's because we use the oldest stuff first, and all the stuff we buy, we use. I think if you the "extra stuff" 2 to 3 times a year, that would be fine.

Ok, this is your PSA to check your surfaces, if the dust has changed the color of yor surfaces, you need to dust. Seriously though, you could see the dust on the curtains, they were light colored. I didn't know dust could accumulate on curtains.

😂 Yeah, I really need to invest in a feather duster. I’m at least good with keeping the kitchen clean these days! The dust is a whole other story though.

I just don't know how they are walking around and healthy. Many bad habits I shall not go into, but, they truly defy the theory of hygiene and good health.

I dust if i start noticing it. Definitely not full of dust.
Window frames I do for spring cleaning and fall cleaning.
I don’t see the issue with pet bowls there’s soap for a reason… 🤷♀️

The dust was very noticeable. And same for windows, it's not included in Saturday's deep cleaning, but 2 to 3 times a year. I did not know that pet bowls in the sink was a thing, can't even lie. The sponge that I side eyed. The half boxes of pasta just made me wonder.
