What time do you start your Fourth of July barbecue?
Those that have barbecues or cookouts for the fourth of July what time do you start them?
We host a barbecue pool party every year and it starts at 12. Without skipping a beat my bil and his wife always complain that starting it at 12 makes a long day.
Every year I explain to them that they don't have to show up at 12 and they still do 🙄.
In my head we start at 12 and grill around 1 when we have a decent crowd. And then again around 6 or 7 if people are still hanging out. I start at 12 because in our family we have mixed aged families. Some with kids less than 6 and some that have preteens. I figured the people with younger kids will leave early. There's no obligation to stay all night. My daughter has a sleepover with her cousins that night but that's about it.
There's never any pressure and it's basically come and go as you please. My husband thinks we should change it to later (like 3) and I'm like why?? We would just be sitting around all day wasting the holiday lol.

We start at 5. Grilling at 6. Gives the kids a chance to play with smoke bombs and other daytime fireworks. We end the evening late but anyone with littles either leaves early or put the little to sleep in the house while we continue outside.
We use the day to do prep work and we always have a water balloon fight with the kids or swim in the afternoon.

We start ours at 3 and cook around 5.

When we do family cookouts, it starts around 2ish. If I were going to a friend's get together, 12 would be too early for me personally 🤣 but I'd be like, that's too early, I'll be there around 3-4 depending on who is showing up! 😄

See in my family we always spent the 4th at the lake and we got there early to get a good spot. We would leave around 3 and clean up/rest to go to the fireworks that night. It never occurred to me that 12 was early since the 4th was an all day event for me growing up.

yea, I see where you are coming from. It sounds like a fun filled day!! Your BIL better start appreciating or else they might start getting a later invite! Hehe
