Почему PTO школы не привлекает других родителей к волонтерству
Please tell me if I'm missing something. The PTO at both my children's schools NEVER post volunteer opportunities or have any meetings. They literally run it among the six of them and anyone close to them. The upper elementary school has had one meeting. I suggested that they use sign up genius to get a hold of parents ahead of time... They did it once. It's almost November and the lower elementary school has never held a meeting. Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought the PTO was beyond parents just running the board. I thought there was supposed to be outreach so other parents can volunteer at school events and fundraisers. 90% off the events at the elementary schools (there's only 2 in town) are ran by the PTO. I hate just handing over a check but it seems like it's a blue collar clique which is weird considering our demographics.
Is this normal? Am I missing something?
Also I had my baby in July. Three kids is no joke 🤣

There are usually posts from newsletters about it. Especially at the beginning of the year. This sounds like a cult lol

It's SO weird and "exclusive".
.. I've been trying to join and help for years and just thought it was bad timing being pregnant for the last couple of years but it's very much you can't sit with us energy. I was really confused when I went to the last event and saw my husband's aunt volunteering because they could use an extra hand... Like why not just ask some actual parents

That’s weird. At my daughters new and old school they constantly send out emails about volunteers even in the Girl Scout troop she was in.
If that was the case at either school I wouldn’t even bother, gross.
Ive been on the fence about a third baby🤣

Congratulation on the baby.
But that is strange here thy encourage parents to be a part of the PTO we get an email everyone once an awhile about joining

Congrats on the baby!
I have no advice about the PTO though. But I would also assume they would want parents on it since it’s called the parent teacher organization. 😂🤷🏻♀️

Hold the phone! We need a life update or have I missed?!!! PTO, shmeeepeeO 🤣
Did you move and are you sharing his name? Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your little one 💙
PTO feels so cliquey by me and most of the board lives in my neighborhood and is at our bus stop. It’s my worst nightmare. But they do request parent volunteers on a regular basis and I don’t have to interact with the board at the events.

We’ve missed you! Congrats on your newest addition. I’d love to hear all about him!
PTO can be cliquey at some schools depending on the parents. At my current school, they are so wonderful and welcoming. They communicate really well (usually through me). But I’ve been at schools where notices about meetings and volunteer opportunities aren’t communicated to admin or other parents.
