Does anyone have any experience with wills and estates? In your experience how long after everything is liquidated does it take to have access to the money and if a trustee is in charge of your funds does the stipulations come from the person that passed? If everything is legally done can for some reason the funds not be available to us ?

I honestly don't know about a whole estate, I think it takes months. My mom has all her.financial accounts set up to transfer to us immediately upon her death.

For us it took a few months to get access, probate takes a while. With Dominic being a minor we have a trustee and they are amazing so it made things easy for us. But if it’s someone you don’t really trust it could be bad. Once the lawyers aren’t involved anymore the trustee is pretty much in charge of what to do with the money. With us though I do have to approve bigger things. There were stipulations like when Dominic has access to the money with out the trustee and certain things it can’t be used for..
but the trustee can go against some stipulations if necessary.
Luckily my name was on the bank account so that just switched over to me right away.
My situation is a bit different though since it’s for a child

My grandfather passed away and he left his estate to myself, sister and his daughter we split everything once it’s all liquidated. He put a trustee in charge of mine and my sisters money but not my aunts because she’s in her 60s. He had an executive of the estate and he has a will that’s very detailed. I know one of his stipulations is we have to invest some of the money but I don’t know what the others are and the executive said he doesn’t either. In the will it did say he wrote out the details so it wouldn’t have to go through probate. idk if that’s a thing. I’m just kinda confused with everything
