Braces experience
Anyone’s kid had or have braces? Aly has a consult in the morning because she needs them but I’ve never had to deal with this and don’t know what to expect.

The issue is she had a back tooth removed a few years ago, they did an X-ray and said the adult tooth was just below the surface. Fast forward to now and the adult tooth is partly under another adult tooth that came in crooked. So they said if we don’t move the crooked tooth back where it belongs, that this adult tooth under her gums will either push the other tooth out or they are afraid it might come out through the side of her gums instead. It’s a mess.
I let aubrey take the whole day off when she has appointments because she's usually sore. Especially when she gets a new wire. Aubrey has had them for a 1.5 years now. She's got 6-9 more months.
You have to brush your teeth differently and if your orthodontist will ask to get prescribed special toothpaste to prevent cavities. Also 3rd the water pic !
My teen had braces for 2.5 years. Make sure brushes and water piks daily and wears her retainer afterwards. No hard foods...my daughter never broke hers but my niece did a few times chomping on ish lol
Definitely make sure she wears the retainers. I of course got sick of wearing them after a year or two and my teeth have moved a bit since then.
I mainly did Invisalign, but I had actual braces on my back teeth for a couple of months. The actual braces were way worse. Make sure she uses the wax they’ll give her to cover the pokey wires with. It helps so much.
And taking the molds/impressions of the teeth majorly sucks, unless they do it a better way these days. It’s a big tray of goop you have to sit there with it in your mouth practically choking on it (though I have a really small mouth and gag extremely easily so that might have been way). It’s so gross, but it goes pretty quickly.
Ugh that doesn’t sound fun at all. Her appointment is early in the morning too so hopefully it won’t be too bad
@icebergahead, It really did feel like they were pulling the teeth out when it was removed!
Also takis pop brackets off like a bitch. She needs to be super careful the first couple months then she will learn how to eat with them to not pop brackets off
I knew you’d have some advice. This child is excited but I’m sure it’s going to be short lived. I’m most anxious about how to keep them clean so thank you for your answers there! And the worst part is the stuff she won’t be able to eat. Hopefully they give me a list.
@supermomof4, if they don’t I’ll send you the list I have. They should though. Most importantly she brushes her teeth religiously preferably after every meal is what my brother told h before she got hers
@damnitred, so she’ll need a bag for this stuff just to stay in her backpack when school starts it sounds like. The only person I know personally who had braces is my ex aunt so I had no one to ask. I really appreciate the input so I have an idea.
I had braces and my kiddo has a consult appt coming. I remember they took photos of my teeth. Explained the process and how long estimated that I would have them placed for. Things like that plus the cost end. Then they created a mold of my teeth just first appointment. I had them as an adult for about a little over 3 years. The next appointment I had them placed. They hurt like hell for a week🤡. It took a few weeks to adapt and then it was easy peasy. They will answer all of your concerns at visits. I was really good about staying away from foods not to eat but with kids. It may be a challenge depending on child.
I still miss my brace face. I loved mine.
I hope she can handle the mold they need to do. Her appointment is at 8am. I think keeping her away from certain foods will be hard at first.

I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?

The process kinda sucks I think the worst part us when they get you fitted for the mold. Feels so yucky.
For me the first month was a bit painful. Getting used to them and not really being able to bite down on foods like apples and such.
When you go to get the wires/elastics replaced the first day or 2 you are super sore.
She's only 12 right? Honestly I would wait it out, a few more years until she is more responsible and a little older.
