Ughhh lets play wwyd in honor of mother's day.

Back story...my kiddo's oldest friends' (they've been friends for 6 going on 7 yrs) mother is a hot mess mom. I am in no way shaming hot mess moms just this mom in particular. In the almost 7 years of friendship my daughter has never been to their house for a playdate. I've been left hanging multiple times with no way of reaching her or her husband. Her daughter until recently lacked basic manners at my house. The list goes on.
The icing on the cake was last summer when the girl hit her head on the edge of my pool after doing a flip which I had told her not to do in the first place. When I called hot mess mom to come pick her up thinking she might need to go get checked out she said she had to go let her friend's dog out 🙄... little liability wasn't back at my house for a LONG time after that incident. Of course the girls ended up in the same class this year 😑.

Anyway now about the WWYD. Hot mess mom remembered her kids birthday and JUST sent out invites for 5/18. I already have a wedding to attend and we have to leave at 1:30. Kiddo has another party to attend (girl is in the same class and gave plenty of notice) at 3. My friend was going to pickup and drop off kiddo for that party. So now I have to make the decision because hot mess mom is always last minute. Kiddo will probably want to go because all the years they've been friends she's never been to her party, (don't get me started on that)

CHOICES
a) Do I have kiddo skip party (i don't really have time for this party but i could make it work)
Or
B) go and suffer for an hour at a horse stable which isn't the best but I know it would make the girls happy

I seriously don't know what to do...I hate hot mess mom with a passion.

Skip … 💯 percent skip. If you’re worry about your kiddos feeling in all this I would go as far as letting her go to target and get her best friend something special to give to her on Monday.
But the last minute thing just doesn’t work for me and I mean you’re busy and this mom seems meh 🫤 so there’s that too.

I would skip and then set up another day they can meet if it upsets your daughter.

Skip and just send a gift or money. You had prior commitments that were made in advance.

Are all 3 happening on the 18th? If so, I'd keep my prior commitments. I wouldn't be able to do anything about the wedding, anyway. Then I'd have dd go to the first party I'd already rsvp'd to. I'd explain to her that the party invitation came too late, and there are plans already made

I’d skip it. You already have a busy day planned & it was a last minute invite. Just tell your daughter that you already have so much going on that day that you’ve committed to prior.
