Does anyone have any recommendations for safe apps that kids can use to text/call each other? I would prefer that he doesn’t use my phone but they both have tablets. My kid has an iPad and the other kid has a different kind.

Fb messenger for kids. You control it. You approve who they can and can’t be friends with and you can download their chats with friends and read them.
