Как мамам не запутаться в школьных делах детей?

ATTN MOMS W/ SCHOOL AGED KIDDOS

I need your advice

I need y’all’s tips on how you manage to stay organized on your kids school needs as far as keeping track of each child’s assignments & upcoming tests & staying up to date on that weeks latest or what needs focused on.

My girls in school are 4th & 5th grade .. idk why but I am struggling a bit w/ keeping track of everything.. like when one tells me she has a science test Thursday, vocal quiz Friday & social studies Monday , I’ll mix it up & get confused or even forget one when the other also has several tests coming up.

The teacher app. Remaining contact with your child’s teachers. School newsletters and emails. Also involving yourself in their homework progress helps too.

See, we used to get newsletters and emails and they stopped. Now it’s depending on the teacher If they do that but neither of mine do. The only school info we get email wise is events like fundraisers or different things like “chick-fil-a” night where if you order and give their code, it donates money to their school and things like that. But what is the teacher app? Is that what it’s called or is that something your school does?

I have a school calendar hanging in my dining room that I write test days & assignment due dates on. And all extra activities that are school related. It’s color coded for each kid so I don’t get mixed up.

When my kids were younger I used to buy a “mom” calendar this is the brand and it was perfect. Since covid most of their work is on google classroom so there are already lists of what’s coming due etc, I leave it up to them to keep track of and just check in every once in awhile to make sure they are on track.

This is awesome!!! I do love this. And ours is going back to using the Google classroom after this little break they got this week for conferences. They’ll be setting that up to have everything posted there again. A lot of parents had complained this year bc they used it last year and we all loved it and then they just stopped using it this year for whatever reason other than if a snow day were to come about. The classroom is all set up, they just didn’t post anything to it as far as upcoming assignments and tests. So it has me a freakin MESS this year and my kids are leaving out tests here and there so they could get out of studying and then we don’t know about til that bad test comes home. If we know about the tests, we’re ON IT. But I can’t help study for something idk is happening. Which is what I explained to their teachers.. so either we need someway of seeing a schedule, not depending on what my kids write in their school planners bc 90% of the time, they don’t write everything down or they forget entirely so it’s blank. But they had said the Google classroom will be set back up with schedules for the week so we all can see tests and assignments being completed so there’s far less chance of lying or hiding anything and we don’t have to feel like we’re in the dark as much as we are.

smh yes there should be some sort of communication other than what they write down that’s a pain. My kids' schools have a messaging-type app, the younger kids' teachers send regular reminders about tests or important events on there, and for the older, it’s usually just school newsletters or a teacher private messaging re missed assignments or whatever. I feel like every school should have one of these apps, my kids go to school at two different school boards and each uses a different one. My daughter’s grade 5 teacher also sends a weekly video with a PowerPoint about what they are doing in the class. I think a lot has to do with the teacher as her grade 4 teacher I didn’t hear from more than once during the whole school year.
