Нужно ли вести ребёнка в больницу?
Okay, I need opinions. I hate emergency rooms & avoid them at all cost so if I don’t have to go I’d rather not, butI need to know if I should just take him in.
James (middle babe) had an appt at urgent care today. His rapid strep test was negative, they also sent out a culture. He’s had a fever on & off since last night , he hasn’t eaten at all since Tuesday evening. On top of that he’s thrown up 4 times this morning and has diarrhea, he’s refusing to eat anything even popsicles and is hardly drinking any water or pedialyte.

I always do cold wash cloths or ice packs on the back of my kids necks to help bring their fever down.

Or give him ice to suck on maybe a dab of honey or sweet on his tongue.

Tylenol Suppositories, they are amazing! Once he has that, if he takes a sip of drink every 30 mins to an hour I'd try that, if no, call his doctor and see what they say or if you feel better take him in. Why did they do a strep for these symptoms...

They did strep test because he’s had it two times in the last month

ohh, poor dude! Tylenol suppository! 😩 I hope he feels better!!

I agree with others that it sounds like a virus that just needs to pass. Also with baths, ice pops, and offering fluids, not heavy clothing. If he’s producing tears, peeing, skin isn’t sunken in and they don’t have dry mouth, He should be fine with hydration.

Agree that he might need fluids. 😢

I’ve got a couple hours until my oldest gets out of school and dad is home, if he isn’t better then I’ll take him then.

I would take him in. I’ve had dehydrated kids and it happens quicker than you’d realize and sometimes they need IV fluids.

That’s what I’m afraid of. He did ask for pedialyte so I’m hoping that will stay down. I hate the ER ☹️

I do too. Sometimes it’s necessary though. When my son had his tonsils and adenoids taken out I tried literally everything to get him to drink. I even put him in the tub because he would always try to drink the bath water. I took him in and he was so dehydrated he was admitted for 3 days on fluids the entire time.

holy moly 😳that’s scary! I know he isn’t doing to good if he isn’t even wanting popsicles. I’m kinda wondering if when they were swabbing his throat they may have not got a good enough swab. He was gagging the whole time and pulling the MA’s hand away from his mouth.

Stomach flu/bug probably. It usually passes within a few days so I'd wait a bit more. We had it in our house a couple months ago..it got us one by one. Just keep offering juices, ice, water Popsicles apple sauce BRAT diet etc and Tylenol for the fever

@lizibear84, I’m going to see if he’ll let me give him a bath, if not I’ll have to maybe just put a cool rag on his head or neck.
Stephanie··
with baths, after he gets out he will have the chills which might make his body hurt more if he isn't feeling good. I wouldn't exhaust him more right now.

I’m not he started fighting me and telling me that he didn’t want to take a bath, so I’d rather not fight with him

Sounds like stomach bug to me
