I was doing my entrepreneur thing at an event called the Hall of Flowers on Thursday.
My company didn’t invite me to go, they chose the woman who does 6 demos a month vs the 6-8 a week I do. She also doesn’t staff train, do display work and lives even further away than I do but she got to go and get all the perks including the hotel room when the numbers say I’m the top BA in the entire company?!? Okay, so this may have potentially confirmed the rumors that the owner is racist and doesn’t want people of color in higher roles there.
Anyway, I ended up being offered a sponsored ticket by another dispensary and it worked out MUCH better that way. I got to meet the managers of companies that specialize in everything from packaging to data analysis, testing, legal and so much more. I also have three potential job offers I’ll be hoping to decide from soon with a very big raise attached to it.
I’m over here working on building generational wealth so I know my child with a life long disability is well cared for even when I’m gone. When you almost died when your child was under 2 years old it really lights a fire under your butt to get healthy but also to get your financial matters straight. I know I’ll be successful, I just have to get through the racist and sexist red tape first.

I get what you’re saying. I don’t promo model though. I push product out of doors so while my looks matter, 90% of my job is about knowledge and looks is about 10% of it.
And it’s always about race in this country no matter how you choose to put it, and it’s on purpose to continue oppression for capitalist greed. Everything from education to access to health care, how much money a person makes is all about race. Until we as a society can check ourselves and acknowledge it and look at our various levels privilege it will never change. I’m just painfully in your face real about that reality and a lot of people can’t tolerate it.

Why can't other mom's just be there for other mom's and work together and help each other not bash other mom's because when other mom's bash other mom's it makes us feel like we aren't doing a good job at least that's how I feel when I get bashed.
I was a BA/promo model for 12 years and companies definitely pick and choose their favorites and give them more work. Sometimes it’s not necessarily racism but the face the brand wants. For example I was told I couldn’t work a Remy promo because I “wasn’t dark enough” I just didn’t fit the look they wanted. It’s a hard industry to be in.
