Interviewing two applicants today for a nanny for my boys.
I've interviewed plenty of people for jobs before, but are there any additional questions I should ask that might be out of the ordinary?
I'm doing background checks and asking for three references in addition to the typical questions

I am doing background checks, I just didn't do it before the first interview. One woman offered both DMV and background check up front.
I’d make sure they are cpr certified. I always was when I nanny’d.
Yes! One of the applicants listed that, but I can't remember if the other did. I'll ask
I like to do paid trial days, I think it’s more informational to see how they leave your house, how they interact with the kids, and how often they’re on their phones.
Discussing their discipline style, how they deal with sibling rivalry and communicating your expectations around being on-time (or if you’re flexible with arrival time) are all areas I would make sure to hit on.

Let them meet the kids. Kids got bad vibe radars and if they’re gonna click with that nanny they should fairly quickly. If they don’t, I wouldn’t hire them. Also watch out for any over explaining, usually means it’s a lie.

With bg check check I would ask for DMV records as well. They can get them for like $3 online.
