Coconut creamer is amazing! Plus, вопрос по школе: Principal поговорила с сыном без меня, что делать?
Two things. This creamer is sooo good. If you like coconut get this.
I spoke to the principal yesterday and I’m not sure how I feel about the how things are being handled. She spoke to my son without me present which I’m not comfortable with. He wrote all the stuff on a sticky note because he didn’t want to talk. The principal sounded like she wasn’t aware of the previous incident with the other student. She said they will supervise more. She also said they will speak to the student and parent. I asked her since this is an ongoing issue what else happens because clearly speaking to the parent and moving the other child’s sit didn’t stop
this kids behaviors, he just moved his focus to my son. She said to be honest sometimes consequences don’t stop them, So I told her if this student says or touches my child again, I will be removing my son from the school.

I would get higher up involved. Like the superintendent..Maybe that’s just me but I feel like if the principal isn’t trying to make your son feel as comfortable as he can while at school then something else needs to be done. I am sorry your son is going through this, no child should ever have to experience this.

I wouldn't wait i would get the superintendent involved . Schools needs to stop letting kids get away with this crap plus cps definitely needs to be checking in on that other kids home life. I'm sorry you and your child are going through this

@ekko, do you mind chiming in as well. I know you’re in admin in the school system. I want to advocate for my child and also go through the proper chains.

I always speak with children without parents present. It’s preferable and gives me authentic answers. Sometimes the presence of a parent greatly changes things.
I would ask your principal or district office who the district’s Title IX coordinator is because this seems like a Title IX violation (sexual harassment). That person can help you navigate the situation - or that request may spur the school to understand how significant this could become.

Do I do this now or do I wait a few days to see how this is handled? The principal told me basically my son should have told the teacher right away instead of coming home and telling me. I explained to her my son is uncomfortable telling and he’s afraid the other student will retaliate. I also told her to remember this is his first year in the public system since basically kindergarten, so he came to whom he was comfortable telling and I addressed it immediately.

I agree in an ideal world that he should have told the teacher right away - that’s the best way that we can address things quickly and try to get the clearest picture of what happened. BUT, I also know that kids will go home and tell parents first. It happens a lot! I would document your conversation with her for your own personal records. Encourage your son to report things right away to a trusted adult. If there is another incident and he has told an adult then reach out to the teacher via email documenting what your son told you and cc the principal. In your email ask if a Title IX report was filed. If not, ask who you should contact to ensure that a report is made. The school has a duty to investigate thoroughly and if they find that a Title IX violation has occurred then they have a duty protect your child. Given the nature of your son’s placement and the other child’s placement, another classroom may not be an option. However, they will need to put a plan in place to ensure that the children are separated as much as possible and never alone together.
Feel free to PM me any time if you need help with this. Title IX is tricky. Most people think it only has to do with gender discrimination in education — that’s part of it and what it was originally intended to be. However, it has expanded under the Biden administration to include sexual harassment that includes harassment between the same gender. Depending on how on top of things your district is, they SHOULD know this. But not all districts are up-to-date bc unfortunately Title IX changes when presidential administrations change and their department of ed changes.
