Anyone experienced using the IUD ? Can you share your experience with me please? I’m thinking of getting the copper one but I’m so nervous.

It seems like a lot of people are having the same experience with it. I am so scared of birth control because of the stories and my experience with them too. Wow that’s insane. I don’t think in want to try anymore lol.
Everyone reacts differently. I had a mirena and it was great. Had a second one put in and it was awful. Very uncomfortable, my husband could feel it during sex, the doctor said it was just fine over and over again and it ended up migrating into my uterus. Dr had to go in with a scope to find it and remove it. Found out I was pregnant because it wasn’t in the right spot. After that I went with the copper iud hoping for better outcome. It was the worst. The cramps were horrendous and the bleeding was really bad. It also ended up migrating and embedding into my uterus lining and it was a bit tricky to remove, and once again I was pregnant. I ended up having a tubal after the last child.
Omg I’m sorry you had to go through all that. I mean of course the babies are blessings but that sounds terrible and painful! I definitely think that I will be leaning towards not getting it now and coming up with something else but it just seems like it’s a problem with every birth control. I Considered tubal removal after my last baby but my husband wants at least 2 more kids so I didn’t and I don’t mind later down the line but I’m kinda regretting it because now im stressing about birth control.
My doctor said that’s what it was more commonly used for. But it was still effective for stopping pregnancy. The Mirena is the one with hormones right? Do you feel it when your moving or at anytime ?
I had the Mirena. Even the lose dose of hormones in it bothered me. Insertion and removal didn’t hurt for me at all, but I’ve heard it just really depends on the individual. My sister has had both the copper and the Mirena and has had no problems with the copper. She responded even more poorly to the hormones in the Mirena than me, even though you’re “not supposed to.” She didn’t say the copper hurt more or less than the Mirena for insertion
That’s what I’m afraid of. The trail and error of trying both and insertion and removal pains (if any) she said it would be best to keep one in for at least 3 months or more to let my body get adjusted to it and if I don’t like it I really don’t want to be stuck with it for that long. This is proven it really does depend on the person. I want it to work for me because I’ve tried other birth control and it didn’t work for me.
@luv_2b_amomma, I seem pretty sensitive to progesterone-based birth control which is what Mirena is, even though it’s low dose and centralized to the uterus. I had similar bad symptoms with a progesterone pill as I did with the Mirena, but I will say they were not as intense with the Mirena. But I felt better, clearer headed and more in control of myself off all birth control.
My dr kept my strings long, so they did occasionally poke my husband during sex and if I went digging, I could feel them myself. But she liked to do that so I would know if the IUD moved … if I couldn’t feel the strings, then it moved and I should come in ASAP. I’ve heard most drs trim the strings pretty short and most men don’t feel them.
Neither my sister nor myself ever has dealt with an IUD that has migrated.
@humblewarriormama, I’ve also felt great without being on birth control too but I don’t want anymore kids so I feel like I have to try something but birth control has made me sick, bleeding for months, weight gain. Yikes it sounds like it’s not worth trying it. I don’t want it to hurt going in or to experience any of the many things lots of other moms just shared. I don’t have a high tolerance for pain.
I tried 3 different ones and didn’t like any of them 🤷🏻♀️
@lizibear84, I want my husband to do this so bad but he wants more kids in a few years and I’m like I don’t mind but I much rather just get it over with no so I don’t even to worry about birth control.
@luv_2b_amomma, my body hates birth control. All artificial hormones do crazy things to me. Hopefully I won’t need them in menopause. But my pregnancy with my little one gave me irreversible health issues, so I’m good with the 2 we have. Well adopt if we ever want more
@lizibear84, Same here! Mine had not had a good reaction to birth control methods I’ve tried in the past. My last pregnancy was so scary I went into labor and my heart rate and hers was dropping low with every contraction so I had to have a C-section and I was bleeding, I was alone it was terrible. Thankfully my baby was ok but it scared me into not wanting any for a while I would be ok not having anymore ever.
I have the Mirena. It was placed after my irregular heavy bleedings. It has helped tremendously. I just do not have a flow each month now. No complaints. Just the placing of the IUD hurt like a🥵.

I been asked all day if I’m having twins since I’m gone be 4 months
I had the mirena for a couple months . The insertion was horrendous . And my husband could feel it and I had to get it trimmed but eventually I pulled it out . I kept spotting nonstop . I don’t do well with hormones either . My mom had the copper one and got pregnant lol Everyone’s different . Some people love it others don’t. Just have to try and see how your body responds .
