Скорая помощь при одышке: почему так долго ехали? Вопрос к EMT: 30 минут до больницы - это нормально?
Is anyone on here an EMT? My dad was taken from my parents house to the closest hospital (3 miles away, right up the street) via ambulance for sudden onset shortness of breath. Took them 20 minutes to get to my parents apartment and 30 minutes to get to the hospital because the driver was going the speed limit, stopped at every light, and wouldn't put his siren on because "it's not a real emergency". That doesn't seem right, does it?

That's not right, usually only a hospice patient wouldn't get the lights on. Your dad is a full code, right? Those lights should be on for sudden SOB/full code patient considering his medical history. That's not just another covid case. I'm obviously not an EMT, but to my knowledge only a comfort care/do not resuscitate would be non emergent.

thank you love. I think he went into shock from losing so much fluid so quickly. He lost 9lbs of fluid in a couple days and is still swollen

that makes sense, and with being a doctor he's probably acutely attuned to any change in condition.

yep! He has a long term colleague there with him, taking care of him.
