Why bring dogs to family events?
I’m here for my semi-annual rant about people bringing their dogs to family events and spaces. 😑
We went to a parade, bonfire, and fireworks last night. There were at least a dozen dogs there and most were not well-behaved. Several got into snarling matches with each other when they got too close. And people had their dogs waiting in line to take pics with Santa. Umm, what?
Why has it become acceptable to bring dogs to human events, especially ones designed for children and families? When did people become such self-centered assholes and feel so entitled to bring their dogs everywhere?

I feel this so much. We went to Kinzua Bridge during the fall and the amount of people that had dogs that were barking and growling at each other with so many people around. Ugh.

I'm a dog person, and I absolutely hate it. Half the time, the owners are rude when others aren't for their dogs in their space. I have a child who has severe anxiety about dogs, so as soon as she sees one, she is almost sure to have a panic attack. Dog owners will try and convince my child and me their dog is friendly, like I don’t care she’s still afraid of dogs.

That is absolutely not the way to help a fear. People are stupid. I hate it too but also love dogs. But they can stay their asses at home. They don’t give one fuck about taking a photo with Santa either. That’s some weird shit dog owners do for social media.

I used to think I didn’t like dogs, but I realized that it’s the bad dog owners that I don’t like. Stop trying to force me or my kids to pet your dog. I don’t know the dog and I don’t give af if you say hE’s FrIeNdLy. I don’t know that???

I had a coworker once that would sneak their little white fluffy dog into stores and they just thought it was the cutest thing. Drove me bananas. There is a reason dogs aren’t allowed everywhere!
I couldn’t imagine dogs at a fireworks thing. Sounds like a recipe for a bunch of runaway dogs. I have so many dog owner pet-peeves. Part of the reason we’re not currently dog owners is I don’t have the time/resources/mental capacity to train a dog to my very high standards. Having an untrained dog is not cute!

Dogs in stores is my pet peeve - especially grocery stores. So many people put them in the carts. DISGUSTING!!!

I absolutely hate this shit. My sister brought her chihuahua to my house full of cats without asking me. And I just looked at her like she was stupid. This dog is a fucking nightmare. And here lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people with dogs in the grocery stores like the hell??

@ekko, this one idk what her deal is but she gets mad at my sister and shits in the floor and tears up her throw pillows. I would throw the dog away. This is why I’m a cat person. 😂😂😂

Oh hell no! 😂 I’m a cat person too. The worst thing my two cats do is play with Christmas ornaments and occasionally spit up a hairball.

people do not consider many things. Just because many people like dogs does not mean they can bring their pet to just about anywhere (excluding service dogs).
Should I take my rats to every store I venture to? Nope. They stay home lol.
