Does anyone else's children struggle with asthma?
My oldest kiddo seems to be triggered by everything. Allergies (she has a ton of environmental ones) and colds especially. She was doing well with it the last few years because she was wearing a mask so she wasn't breathing in her allergens regularly and she never got sick.
She was sick a few weeks ago and now she just has a lingering cough but she's in physical pain. The fluctuating temperature around here definitely doesn't help.
We do flovant, Zyrtec, and Flonase daily. We've also been giving the nebulizer as needed. But she's still struggling.
Just wondering if there's anything else I can do to help her or bring up to her allergist that we haven't thought of already.
I have really bad asthma. In the morning I take one benedryl and a Zyrtec and of an evening I take singular. I also have a steroid inhaler I take twice a day
My daughter takes the flovent that she either take 1 puff 2x/day or 2 puffs once a day. Doesn't seem to help. maybe I'll ask about singular I didn't think you could do that with the flovent.
@massgirl, Flovent didn’t work for me at all. I’m on the qvar redihaler
Have you seen an allergy & asthma Dr?
I love our pediatrician but I my daughter’s (15yo) asthma was getting out of control, especially during the winter and she suffered from allergies year round. We went to a specialist that was able to treat both her asthma and allergies at the same time. We mapped out a treatment plan together and she sees the specialist every few months to tweak her plan as needed.
We have singular for emergencies but I am not a huge fan of it due to the potential side effects.
@hakunamatata09 if you're asking me. I put it in my post but she's on flovant, Zyrtec, and Flonase. She takes her Albuterol inhaler as needed (usually before dance or other physical activity). I've also been giving her the nebulizer treatment that has Albuterol in it.
@hakunamatata09,
Hi
Currently, she’s on Airduo inhaler 2X a day (morning & night) and Zyrtec. She also has an albuterol emergency inhaler to take an needed. She takes a Benadryl once a week, she just started allergy shots not too long ago, so she takes the Benadryl on shot days. She hasn’t been on the shots very long to make a noticeable difference but the Airduo inhaler has been amazing.
She normally requires steroids a few times a year because her asthma and allergies get out of control.
Edited: had the name wrong of her inhaler
Mine does! But she doesn't have allergies. She just has asthma so whenever she gets sick even if it's a "cold virus" it's automatically a dry dry cough, nebulizer round the clock for 3 to 4 days and when it's really bad they put her on prednisolone...
@massgirl hopefully that helps. I unfortunately deal with her coughs about 3 to 5 times during winter months. This year is HORRIBLE. Since she's in kinder she has been sick about 4 times
@hakunamatata09 yeah Winter is normally bad and she has the dry cough but it's really been bothering her the last few days. She's been checked for everything under the sun and I want to get her some relief so she'll make it through the school day physically.
My oldest was recently prescribed singulair. Every time she gets sick the cough lingers on and on too. Doctor said it is helpful for her allergies as well as the asthma so maybe something to consider?
@massgirl oh I used go take singular! It might help. Right now I'm on a controller called alvesco..dd is also using flovant...
@massgirl, I take singulair for my allergies. It has been a life changer for me.
I'm going to email her allergist and see what he thinks
Can she get weekly or monthly allergy shots? My friends son has severe allergies and goes weekly for shots and it helps a ton
Her doctor wants her to but we aren't quite ready for them. She has a really big phobia to needles that we're in the process of overcoming.

My sweet baby girl gained her angel wings this morning. She was my best friend, my true love my everything. She was so happy and beautiful, I'm struggling to say good bye. Sleep tight princess, mummy and daddy love you very very much ❤️

A Statement from Mom.Life:
Hey everyone!
Last night, a new user began messaging our moms asking for private pictures of toddlers and young children. This is obviously unacceptable behavior, and the account was banned immediately. Although thankfully extremely rare on Mom.Life, several users were understandably upset by this, so we wanted to clarify a few things:
First off, Mom.Life has an absolute zero tolerance policy for child abuse and those who would prey on children. We strive to ...
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
