I surely have come across some crazy pet owners before that craved attention on an unhealthy level.

crazy story - I know this has nothing to do with what you’re posting about, lol, but still!

My great aunt was actually convicted of murder for just this. I didn’t know her well.. her husband was my grandpas brother.. but i went to a couple family reunions with her. She lived in kentucky (i myself in southern IL).

Anyway - she pretty much poisoned my great grandma to death.

My great grandmother had moved in with them when she turned 95ish. After all came out, we found that my great aunt was pretty much keeping her just on the verge of death by poisoning her food.

in her testimony she kept insisting that she never meant to kill her, that she just enjoyed the attention from the church of taking care of such a sick old woman. 😔

Also!

when she was being tried for murder, my second cousin came forward and had a whole story also about how when she stayed at my great aunts during the summer (her own grandma), that she had to stay in the “sick room”.

That she would be fine when she got there, but within 24 hours she would be nearly unconscious in that bed..

But then once her parents would show up she would be feeling fine again.

They always called her a sickly child, but hindsight… Now we know. 🫣
