When should I take my 4 year old to the ER for a fever?
She was at 103 earlier this morning and has been throwing up since last night and early at 2 am again. Called her doctor and they said they could see her until tomorrow because no appointments available for today. She just wants to be laying down and she says she has the chills and she shakes from being cold but her body is hot. She doesn’t seem like herself, also doesn’t want to eat anything. She’s at 100.0 right now
Try a Luke warm bath, also just push fluids not eating is ok but fluids are a must.
@mommakaylax3, haven’t tested for covid yet. Thank you I will try to offer her that! She’s just been eating crackers today.
I wouldn’t unless she’s acting off and not like her normal self. Hard to wake up ect or it’s like high 104 and you cannot get it down with Tylenol or ibuprofen. How is she doing? I would try to get her in with her pediatrician to roll out what’s going on make sure no ear infection, no flu, no covid. Hopefully it’s just viral and her fever will be gone very soon!
How high? I wouldn't unless she isn't acting like herself. Lethargic or not getting any fluid in at all. Does she seem comfortable? Over the counter meds not working?
All this. I would call her pedi first before rushing to the hospital where they will most likely just give her Tylenol and tell you to make her comfortable.
They won’t even see us unless it’s 106. Or lasts longer than 5 days consistently
