When my brother was killed, it was hard for me to talk about “God” or “Heaven” with my 2 year old. I was in a rough place to even believe in such things myself……That’s just me, personally.

I told her that we all came from the stars and that Uncle Boo went back to live in the stars. We send him messages on balloons once in a while & she knows he’s around everywhere/anywhere and she can talk to him whenever she wants. We sent some of his stardust (ashes) into the ocean in Kauai so he could explore the world. 🧡 She’s now almost four and it seems like she gets it. She understands that he was hurt and his heart stopped and that he’ll never come back. She knows he’s somewhere intangible, but she’s comfortable with what she knows. She also knows where his ashes are and we refer to them as his special stardust. She asks questions and I always do my best to answer, but if I don’t have an answer, I’m honest about it.

I’ve grown to believe that death is a part of life and it needs to be discussed more than as a taboo subject. I wish the best for you and your little ones. I share my condolences as well 🙏🏽
