I feel like the 2 different moms who say this have very different personalities.

This is what I was looking for lmao!! I’m glad I’m not alone.

Hard to put it into words but “boy mom” people embrace the chaos wholeheartedly (and may even contribute to it). They let their kids be a bit more untamed/wild and chalk things/behaviors up to their kids being boys. Where as “mom of boys” people are a bit more orderly and have different expectations for their homes and kids’ behaviors. Idk if any of that makes sense.

also and correct me if I’m wrong but I additionally feel like self proclaimed “boy moms” tend to push Emotional Incest on their sons.

It’s a strange dynamic that I can’t quite put into words. I get what you’re saying!

yes! it’s one of those, the girls that get it, get it, the girls that don’t, don’t moments 😂.

I will say I’ve said I’m a ‘boy mom’ before but in this explanation, I’m more of a ‘mom of boys’ mom I suppose. Lol

No difference to me.

Okay, you got my wheels turning now; I'm thinking "I'm a mom of boys" implies your not just a mom of boys you could just be one specifying you have sons assuming the conversation is about having sons, not meaning you only have sons. "boy mom" to me means they only have sons and no daughters

Lindsey

When you put it like that, that makes sense. Lol

lol. I was with you guys at first, I've never put this much thought into it before. 😆

I immediately thought “Mother of Dragons” from Game of Thrones when I read this 😅

All the #boymom stereotype stuff kind rubs me the wrong way. But I’ve never put too much thought into the phrasing. I try to avoid saying boy mom by saying I have 2 boys, or something similar.

Now I’m extra curious your POV on this?

@evildrporkchop., said it perfectly for me “the 2 different moms who say this have very different personalities”.

ahh yes that makes sense to me and now that it’s spelled out, I agree as well. Do you feel the same with girl mom vs other phrasings and expectations around homes/behaviors/etc?

imacat

not really. I do believe girl moms can also uphold many patriarcal expectations on girls but for me it’s easier to point out the difference when boy moms use the phrases from what I’ve seen.

I do not think so. Just wording is different but maybe there is😁

"I'm a mom of boys" is just a more "poetic" way to say "I'm a boy mom." I don't see a difference, if someone said either to me I'd think they only had boys

@hakunamafuckitall, @love_linds, @witchyxmomx4, @dr.grey, @icebergahead, @mujerstillregal, my bad, I should’ve specified. I meant moms that only have boys.

It’s interesting to read these responses. I’ve honestly never paid close enough attention to catch a difference. But I imagine there may be. I’ve said both but I also reply with ‘I have 3 sons’ a lot too. Lol

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
