Как сказать друзьям и семье об аутизме сына? Не знаю, как правильно преподнести новость
My son was just diagnosed as autistic & for so long I’ve been telling family,friends & strangers the way he’s been acting was just the way he was but now that we know why I don’t know how exactly to come across that conversation with them. Let me make it clear that in no way am I ashamed or embarrassed of my son, I just don’t know how to come out & say it to others .. one reason being I don’t want to feel like I’m putting a label on him to where people now feel like they have to treat him differently but also the fact that I feel like I don’t have to explain his business to anyone but at the same time I feel like I do. I just wish I can keep my children away from everyone & protect them forever but I know I can’t do that.

I feel like you when you said protect and keep them away from everyone ! Also I get what you saying about using the correct words to not give a label to your child my mother did that to me as a child she just kept telling me and others im slower and dont get things like others do but she never took the time to actually evaluate if it was true she assumed !!!! Maybe if she did i would of known what i needed help with and my learning process would of been easier ! Orshe would of been told im not slow who knows and i would of had that to back me up infront of everyone she told that now still see me as slow and stupid !!!!!
