Birth story: On Thursday am I woke up and went to the bathroom. It was like 4 am. I went pee and I was sitting on the toilet after I peed and I felt a gush of warm fluid. I thought maybe the baby hit my bladder and I peed more. Friday am I’m in my bed and I feel a small gush and again wasn’t sure what it was. I had my high risk appointment that am, when I was in ultrasound I told her about what happened and let her know I wasn’t sure if I peed or if it could have been my water. She checked my levels and said they were low and she told me she was going to get the high risk dr. I went and sat down on the NST chair while I waited, He came in and told me to go straight to the hospital for testing and prob antibiotics because my levels were basically none existent. When I got up from the chair, I leaked fluid and he saw that and said you’re definitely leaking. So to the hospital I drive. I check in and they put me in a room and skipped the triage part. Almost all of the tests came back negative for me losing my fluid. I was almost 5 cm dilated at this point and my body was making progress on it’s own. They did 2 ultrasounds and saw that it was gone. They put a strip inside of me and had me walk and that came up positive as well as the swab. It took them a while to decide if my water broke, if they were keeping me because one dr was going to send me home but the nurse kept telling her those first 3 tests she did would be negative because I was a good amount of time without my water. they decided to admit me once the other tests confirmed my water broke and started me on Pitocin to speed it up. My contractions were coming about every 2-3 mins apart and pain was getting pretty intense. I was switching sides and using a peanut ball between my legs. The dr came in to check me, he said I was around a 6, he left with my nurse. maybe 10 mins after if that I ask my nurse to come in and I tell her I need to get up to pee and she asked me to wait. I told her get the dr to come back I need to push. He comes in and checks me, He tried to stall me (because they had to get everyone in the room and me in the stirrups) and say he needed someone else to check to make sure that wasn’t cervix he was feeling and at some point they ask me would it be okay to add fluid to my uterus and I told them no, she’s coming. The dr said he didn’t feel her head so at this point I like push my leg because I’m still on my side and I’m ready to get on all fours and have her, he had grabbed my leg, I told him glove up here she comes, he asked me could they get me in the stirrups and I told him no time, get the baby. and she was out, no pushes. My body did what it did and she was out. He said you were right you do go fast.... Sir exactly why you should listen when I tell you. The nurse called for back up and I had like 20 people in the room. A team for baby, the attending came but stayed near the baby, and my dr and I think another resident or student delivered my placenta. I will say he took his time making sure everything was out, my cuts were fine and my bleeding slowed down. He really did great. No lie though every time i transition I feel like I want to give in and get an epidural or some pain relief but I know I can do it without so I let my team and my support know if I ask for it I don’t mean it, I’m about to have baby and I just need support to get through, so don’t call for it. So from start of pitocin until I had her I want to say about 4 hours.
