3 года борьбы за Чарли в школе, и вот итог: что чувствую и чего ждать от диагноза?

post image

3 long years of the school fighting for Charlie and it all comes down to this. Honestly don’t know how to feel. In a way a diagnosis would be nice because at least then we have answers and can put him on a certain path, in another way nobody wants their child to have a disability 😞

Completely understand how you feel! Both my boys have been diagnosed recently. For us its changed nothing as they're already recieving support in school and have EHCPs. My oldest took 5 years for diagnosis and youngest was 3 years.

It’s been a nightmare tbh, they started it all when we was in nursery. He had an EHCP, pre approved for 1 to 1 funding for when he started main school, school were going to pay for Psychologist themselves. Fast forward to covid and starting primary school and everything had ‘disappeared’ so they’ve restarted the whole process again in September. He’s only got an IEP at the minute but the teaching assistant is doing 1 to 1 off her own back, she isn’t getting paid for it. They’ve redone the referral but they’ve gone through caudwell charity this time as opposed to CAHMS since cahms is a 59 week wait currently, Caldwell is 12 from start to finish. Sorry for waffling on 🙈 it’s been such a frustrating process

@jo.wilcox, similar happend with us,youngest had 1:1 funding from council & support plans in place at nursery, Ed psychologist was requested during covid so had to wait but nothing continued to school. School hasn’t been very helpful though, made excuse after excuse & just removed him from dinner hall, banned him from using proper cutlery, he’s sent to office/ placed on thinking time but then say he has symptoms of asd. We’ve waited a year for assessment but finally his turn. Itl all work out in the end! Fingers crossed you get answers soon x

@jo.wilcox its incredibly infuriating! They seem to make everything ridiculously hard work. I know there is a major lack of funding in regards to SEN support. He doesn't have to have a EHCP in place for 1:1 funding, the school can apply for high needs funding. They don't make things simple.
