How to forget your child's birthday?

@icebergahead, I don’t have expectations but it still hurts. Even if a dad says he’ll come or whatever, I don’t tell the child just in case it doesn’t happen. I know though and it hurts me. I’ve given my kids some shitty dads and they definitely deserve better. I never speak ill of the other parent. I allow my kids to have their own emotions and opinions. That’s their right and I wouldn’t take it from them. But what i will do is come up here and let y’all know how Im feeling lol. I’m definitely going to come vent to y’all.

I agree with everything you said. I had a parent that my mom would make a big deal about. No idea why she told us when he was supposed to come over or call. She would also project her feelings onto us when he didn’t show/call. She even hid gifts in the house to give us “from him” but why?? I’m sure it hurt her but it truly didn’t need to hurt us. Out of sight, out of mind type thing. Thankfully my son doesn’t remember his father whatsoever and he’s not at the age where he’s asked why he doesn’t have a dad around yet. I plan to answer as age appropriate as possible but I absolutely won’t ever let him feel like someone didn’t show up for him or because of him. It’s not fair to kids and I still hate that my mom did that to us so young.

Oh man I’m sorry that’s sad. Have you started trying to get child support from him? I would especially since he’s putting in little to no effort.

I'm so sorry ugh, I'm' glad they have you!! Kid's eventually see true color's in people and one day will regret not being there.
