Why does my COVID-negative daughter have to miss 24 days of school?
I know the schools are being cautious but the fact that my COVID negative daughter has to miss 24 days of school is ridiculous. Her sister thankfully gets to go back Friday.

They can go back to work or school after 5 days so long as their symptoms are improving and they have no fever.

It really is. The teacher hasn’t answered my messages and hasn’t posted any of her work. I don’t want her to get behind and have a huge work load.

they are trying but her teacher is taking forever and not answering me. The youngest teacher gave me all the work on the last snow day so she could go along with the class.

@uni.cheapskate, @prettygirlrock1214surromom, the school said they aren’t going with the cdc new guidelines. If you’re child is positive it’s 10 days if they are negative it’s 24. 10 for quarantine and then an extra 14. This is only for home exposure school exposure it’s 14 days.

@uni.cheapskate, @jellybeans33, idk even their doctors said it was super strict and not necessary. We quarantined her to one room and she only came out for the bathroom and food. With a mask on and she had the bathroom to herself. We didn’t want to risk her catching it.

They have to get that figured out. The whole school district will be in summer school to catch up! 24 days is an insane amount of time in school time. They can be through multiplication and division and halfway through geometry while that child is out of school.

Especially since my daughter is having a hard time with some of the things. She’s doing good in school but she’s stressed because her teacher keeps saying they should know stuff that she doesn’t because her teacher never got to it last year because they were mostly virtual. She’s a smart kid but she learns better in school then over an computer.

I can't imagine her stress level and it's not her fault. Last year was an absolute mess and this year is not much better and a lot of academic stuff builds. If you miss part of math, then you don't understand all the things that come after. Millions and millions of kids are going to need tutoring and some help to make up for the mess adults made for them during this pandemic. The kids aren't doing anything wrong. Give her a little hug from me. It's going to be okay even if it doesn't seem so right now. She's smart and she will fill in the parts she doesn't understand and it will all click.

I’ve been having to teach her myself and got her flash cards because the teacher refused to go over it with the students. It’s been a frustrating year but she’s been taking it like a champ. Thanks for the kind words.

That sounds super annoying. My oldest starts school in the fall and I’m so split on if I want to send him or not. I want him to have the school experience because he’ll be a kindergartener but if covid can’t get under control I don’t know what I’ll do. It doesn’t help that 40% of people in my state are unvaccinated.

When my son tested positive in the start of the school year with the time waiting on results and quarantine. It was over 2 weeks of no school for my other two kids that were both negative. This time around my two younger ones are positive and asymptomatic, my oldest hasn’t gotten tested yet I’m waiting for 5 days after the exposure date. They have not been in school since they went on winter break the 20th and their return date was the 3rd. I tell my oldest not to even stress about grades, just do the work you can and you’re best. This is completely out of your control don’t even stress the grades, just try to study for your state exam and I’m proud of you regardless. He has been stressing so much too.
