So question, what are signs of adhd in kids? Like almost 6 year old. My son is struggling at home and at school. I googled it but rather hear experiences to help compare? My son is constantly getting sent home. Throwing tantrums, won’t sit still, not listening…this is at home too…he even started the habit of stealing Ans has never done this before 😭 so I have to check him before we leave the store. When he gets mad things go flying. I don’t know what to do. I’m struggling And this is so unlike him. His dad isn’t here right now (military) and it’s jsit me.
The closest pediatric psychologist is 3 hrs away and wait list is 14 months long 🙄 so not like anything will happen for atleast two years with an evaluation which is why we went through the school since they do the same thing and report back to his pediatrician for anything else…I’ve met with him a few times and he’s amazing and I’ve heard good things…he jsit takes his time with evaluations which I rather him do that anyways so it’s done right! But emotionally he is extremely immature lol which has been since he was 3 I noticed temper tantrums are bad and he has issues processing his emotions
@paigerue2013
Yeah in KY the autism evaluation wait list was like 2 years... in GA we had my oldest evaluated within a year
Lot of times they'll have a cancellation list and you may get in sooner. I'd call and ask.
We just started the process to help my son. His teacher is amazing, maybe you just have to light a fire, but totally agree with @massgirl referral to pediatric psychologist.
@paigerue2013 what's his teacher saying? I mean my son just has a hard time focusing and if it took driving 3 hrs, I'd be there. I told them in the last meeting I just want to help him and understand the best way to help him. They told me I'd get a call within 24 hrs. I waited till Monday and let his teacher know I wasn't contacted and I just got off the phone with them less than an hour ago. They are the ones to diagnose, help you understand, help him....they are your gold! Can you go visit someone and get him evaluated there and at least have your answers.
@m00my2five, he’s on the list but I mean close to a year and a half away before anything…he’s in the process ar school with the school psychologist who is amazing and has been working with him for about a month now so it’s not like I’m sitting around doing nothing for him lol his pediatrician and school psychologist are working together on it since I can’t get in anywhere else. My middle son is autistic and he’s in at the same school but since he has a diagnosis he has access to more resources so I finally signed a ton of paperwork allowing my oldest to have access to some of those too…they have the resources they should use them even without a diagnosis 😐
@paigerue2013 Oh, if they are already working with him maybe you are in that evaluation period. We are getting ready to hit that at the end of the month. I don't think you're just sitting around watching him strughle. Hopefully that is it, there isn't much they can report other than the steps they are taking, hopefully you are able to communicate with his teacher and get it all sorted.
I would ask for the results from the school. Additionally I would ask for a referral to a pediatric psychologist from your pediatrician so he can be properly diagnosed based on the DSM-5 if he does in fact have ADHD or another disorder. Everyone experiences with ADHD are different and you wouldn't want to mislabel him based on someone else's experience.
Live in a small town in the middle of no where closest pediatric psychologist to us is 3 hrs away 🙄 who is always booked out…which I know cuz my three year old is autistic so they usually try to avoid sending anyone out because nothing ever gets done in a timely manner. They are legit booked out for 14 months out. So I’m literally screwed.
@paigerue2013 I would get put on the list with that person too. Also maybe call different ones that are willing to see patients virtually. Virtual may be a challenge but it's better than nothing at this point.
@massgirl, sadly our insurance only allows certain ones 🙄 one income family since I stay home plus also paying out of pocket for my middle sons aba, speech, and OT doesn’t give us room to pay out of pocket to someone not in insurance network. My oldest was evaluated for autism since his brother was diagnosed but they said he is good there but told me to watch as he gets older because he showed signs of adhd. So we knew about it but of course military family…moving is a constant thing and something I can’t exactly control….and having to start over with my oldest and most places won’t even do an evaluation until a certain age which currently here they do ot at school age which is 5….atleast that’s what I’m being told whether it’s true or not I don’t know….but single moming it currently and it’s been a struggle with three kids by myself…one being autistic…another having issues and of course I feel bad for my daughter because I’m always dealing with her brothers :/
Best advice I can give is talk to his pediatrician and the school. 💜
Already did all that. It’s been 5 months 🥲 getting no here and he has been evaluated through the school and I never received those results.
@paigerue2013 i would be going to the school and talking to them. Im sorry its been so hard
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.

My sweet baby girl gained her angel wings this morning. She was my best friend, my true love my everything. She was so happy and beautiful, I'm struggling to say good bye. Sleep tight princess, mummy and daddy love you very very much ❤️
How is he emotionally? My daughter has ADHD and struggles with emotional dysregulation. She gets upset very easily and struggles to handle her emotions. She's also very fidgety.
Do you or your husband have ADHD?
Going through the school is a process. I recommend actually just finding a child psychologist and getting them evaluated that way.
The school refused to have a psychologist look at her because it wasn't affecting her school work (though it sounds like it's affecting his so maybe you'll have better luck)
