I see things on here. Even little things like saying “spirit animal” and “tribe” — it’s a small thing, but also incredibly disrespectful in the context in which it’s used.
@ekko my daughter has been doing the "First Explorers" unit in her Social Studies class. I was pleasantly surprised that they acknowledged all the negatives of it including Columbus enslaving people and them bringing disease and death to the Native people.
@ekko also, the absolute irony of people coming here for religious freedom and completely ignoring the religion and rights of the Native people, but hey, that still hasn't changed.
