Does anyone have any advice or been in this situation before? Long story short is I have to push my almost 3 year old in a stroller to get him to nap or sleep EVERYDAY. He doesn’t need the motion just the restraint because if not he’ll just get up and go. He never stops, he’s autistic and at this point I’m not sure what else to do. I’ve tried a weighted blanket and it helps him stay asleep but not get to sleep. Any suggestions would be amazing🙏🏼

He could be done with naps but when it comes down to naps or bedtime, something that has helped here is getting in a very consistent sleep time routine. The first almost 2 years were such a struggle with my little guy. He also has autism. For some time, it would take me hours to get him down and it would take laying with him, rocking him, holding him, walking around the room, car rides and walks in the stroller. He was so difficult. And right before he turned 2 and a week or so after his sister got here, all of a sudden it switched. I got very consistent with his nap time and nighttime routine and everything changed. I read him some stories downstairs, if he will tolerate that. He’s nonverbal but I tell him it’s bedtime and he comes running to go up the stairs and then he gets 15 minutes to play in his room and has quiet time apart from his sister. Then we brush his teeth. We go back in his room, shut off the lights and he has a nightlight on every night that he really likes. I also use a fan because he sleeps better with some white noise. I hold him and tell him the same bedtime story every night and lay him down with his blanket that is his biggest comfort item. I say goodnight and he puts himself to sleep. And he’s been super good at putting himself to sleep for about a year now. That’s our routine. Once I changed to being super consistent, it changed everything for us!

Good luck! I remember how exhausting it was just to get him to sleep and it became my least favorite part of the day. I hope things get easier soon.

Sometimes they’re just done with naps but I did notice something that helped us put him down at 3.5 when he got this way. Like 90 minutes before bed we would start feeding his sensory needs, like putting him in the office chair and spinning it 10 times each way while counting the numbers, we would let him put his stepping stones on the floor and do his walking and crashing into the couch. Kinetic sand, play doh were fun ones too. We would also let him stim by watching his favorite clip back them over and over for 15 minutes, then always a warm bath. Bedtime story was all tight cuddles with a weighted stuffed animal on his tummy . Once asleep the weighted blanket kept him asleep. The activities would change here and there but the idea was to feed his sensory needs so he could relax and fall asleep easier. Now that he’s almost 7 and a full talker the idea is similar where we feed his sensory needs and let him check out and stim a bit, but now there’s two bedtime stories and he falls asleep at ease.

We are all learning as we go girl!

It's pretty normal at that age for kids to stop napping altogether, you're lucky you've made it this long. Just stop forcing him to take a nap, move bedtime up a little earlier to off-set and boom, done pushing a stroller. 🤷‍♀️

@leonardsquared, I hope it’s as easy as you make it sound😂

@isabellesmom93 It was for us when mine hit that no nap stage. I used to have to rock him to sleep and about 2.5 that stopped working. I noticed he was harder and harder to get down, slept for less time and was grumpier earlier in the evening.

I gave up the struggle of tryin to get him down in the afternoon, and that ALONE made us both better mentally. I didn't have to prepare for an hours fight to get what I wanted and ge didn't have to prepare for a fight, hopin to out-will me. It wasn't healthy for either of us. 💯

We moved bedtime up an hour or so and I laid/still lay with him til he fell/falls asleep and all has been well since! We DO wake up with him in our bed MOST mornings, or notice him in the middle of the night. He goes to bed in his room and is able to get himself to sleep, eventually, on his own though.

@leonardsquared, yesss🙌🏼 that sounds like what we’re going through over here, it’s just exhausting fighting with him all the time to sleep. I’m gonna cut out his nap and hope for the best

My son has autism also and he’s very hyper and have always had sleeping problems. He rarely naps but for nighttime sleeping I have to really tire him out. We do a lot of reading activities and play about an hour before he goes to sleep.

@somebodysmama2, omg yayyy that’s amazing🙌🏼 he goes to aba 5 days a week, he’s been in it for alittle over 6 months and we’re starting to see some good changes in him but it’s a process.

@isabellesmom93, that’s great he got into ABA! The waiting list here is ridiculous! SMH

@somebodysmama2, most of the wait lists here were long too but because of Covid not too many people were getting diagnosed at the time so it definitely worked in our favor🙏🏼

Could you maybe wrap him in his weighted blanket, not a tight swaddle obviously, and lay down with him and you'd be his "restraint"? As time goes on you can shorten the amount of time you're laying with him until he can nap on his own? Plus that means extra snuggles with your boy 💙

Having a set naptime routine is good too. Even if you give him a bath in the middle of the day, lotion body massage, have him pick out a couple of his favorite books to read, sing him songs, a white noise machine, his favorite stuffy, and lights out. Even if you have to repeat laying him in his bed a couple times. I know it's exhausting mama, consistency will get you there. Give yourself grace. We are all learning how to do this whole motherhood thing. Good luck sweetness.

What about one of those back pack leash things? Not so much for the leash lol but they have cute animals and they have 2 buckles so it would give that squeeze restraint feeling.

@countrypeaches42013, I have something similar for when we’re outside and I really like it! Unfortunately I don’t think it would help him get to sleep unless I strapped it around his bed mattress or something😫 if I lay him down he’ll immediately get right back up and go no matter how tired he is😣

Maybe he’s just done with taking naps.. have you talked to your pediatrician about this? My almost three year old stopped napping around a month ago, he sleeps probably 10-12 hours a night now that he doesn’t nap.

@isabellesmom93, I usually put both of them down between 7&8 and most of the time they sleep until about 7 am maybe 6:45. Weekends I let them stay up until 8 or 9 depending on the way there acting

Totally irrational so please no judgement... baby daddy is over for visitation and he took Karoline's picture and it infuriated me. I don't want him having pictures of my daughter. He just posts them on social media and claims how we keep him from Karoline and what a great dad he is even though he doesn't do shit. How do I get over this mamas? I'm really struggling with it lately. I just don't want him to have any part, seeing him with my daughter disgusts me .

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Who else has financial issues within their relationship?? Or am I just lucky 🙄🙄 Not sure if I'm being just mean or what. But my SO used $160 from me this morning. I gave him my bank card because he needed $60 to get material for work. His boss was going to give it back to him at the end of the day. So instead of $60 he took out $160. Which I was a little pissed. (One of the reasons I just can't let him use my card. I have to go get the money from the atm myself if I'm giving it to him) then, tonight he asked for $20 incase his boss didn't give it to him. So I gave him my card not even thinking because I had kids running around me. I asked if he could pick up a few things that were out of and told him he could use my card if he has too. And I even told him not to get the expensive brands or anything m generic is fine. So he does. But when he does he decides to go Easter shopping for the kids. (Not sure if he used to my card or not) but if he did, I'd be even more pissed. He knows I have bills to pay on top of giving my son's school money that I owe them. He goes to a private school and I haven't paid in 5 months. It's towards the end of school now so I need to pay it. He knows this month I am extremely tight because of the school, im already in debt and my credit score sucks. I have been trying not to get in more debt and actually fix my credit. I'm so frustrated. It's like we have different priorities and different ideas on this. I feel like I'm completely drowning!!

HELP PLEASE!!! Wondering if anyone has practical tips for getting my baby to calm down and sleep in his crib. It is officially no longer safe for him to sleep in the rocker attachment of his pack n play. He is rolling from back to front and has reched the weight limit. However, when we try to get him to sleep flat in his crib, he freaks out. Does anyone have any unusual or creative tips for helping him become more at ease. He cried for like 2 hours last night and cried right through his first naptime today. Ive tried the usual shushing, singing, patting, etc. When he gets really upset I pick him up and try to calm him but it doesnt do much good. Just not sure what to do to help him get through this (while keeping my sanity intact).
