So my daughter starts her first day of public school on Monday… would It be doing to much if I wrote her teacher a note on the correct way to pronounce her name lol? I haven’t been able to meet her teacher yet, I missed that a few weeks ago. I just know my daughter most likely won’t correct anyone in school 🥴

I NEED ADVICE MOMS: THE PRINCIPAL FROM MY DAUGHTER SCHOOL CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO COME TO THE SCHOOL ASAP. MY DAUGHTER ACTED OUT REAL BAD IN SCHOOL TODAY. LAST WEEK SHE BROUGHT HOME A WATCH AND A CROWN. I ASKED HER WHERE SHE GET IT FROM AND SHE TOLD ME THAT HER FRIEND LET HER HAVE IT. SO TODAY IG A PARENT COMPLAINED ABOUT HER DAUGHTERS CROWN AND WATCH MISSING. SO THE TEACHER ASKED THE WHOLE CLASS WHO HAS BEEN STEALING. THE CLASS SAID MY DAUGHTER DID IT. SO MY DAUGHTER GOT IN TROUBLE WITH THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHER TOLD HER COME HERE YOUR GOING TO THE NEXT CLASS IN TIME OUT. MY DAUGHTER TOLD HER NO!!! AND AS THE TEACHER WAS TAKING HER TO THE NEXT CLASS MY DAUGHTER SMACKED HER TEACHER. THEN SHE TURNED AROUND AND DESTROYED THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE. THEY HAVE SUSPENDED HER TIL MONDAY. HER BDAY IS NEXT SUNDAY THE 30TH BUT I WAS THROWING HER A PARTY NEXT SATURDAY.. REMIND U MY DAUGHTER NEVER ACTS OUT IN SCHOOL THIS IS THE FIRST TIME. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I SAID I WAS CANCELING HER PARTY..CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT ON WHAT I SHOULD DO BECAUSE IF I CANCEL THE PARTY ILL FEEL LIKE A BAD MOM. SHE SHE IS TURNING 7. HELP!!
So my daughter flip out at school today because she has 4 kids in her class that keeps messing with her well today the teacher left them alone for a few minutes until the other teacher came in and so while the teacher was out the little girl decided to pick at my daughter and she told her to shut up and my daughter said she didn't have too so when the teacher came in the little girl tired to cover herself by saying that my daughter told her to shut up and my daughter said she didn't and got mad because the girl lied on her and so the teacher told my daughter to go in the hall a cool off but the girl followed her and got in her face and shoved her in her face the teacher said they will handle it Monday and my daughter pushed her off her and they started to fight and they were holding my daughter back would you keep your children there or take them out of the school since they don't feel safe and the school isn't handling it like they said

I would appreciate that as a teacher, especially if the child is quiet and wouldn’t correct me. Nothing worse than realizing you’ve been saying a kid’s name or last name incorrectly for a while.

I wish my parents would've did this when I was little. Lol
My oldest son goes by his middle name, not his first name because it's his dads name and grandpas first names. I had to tell the office and the teacher, he prefers "Hemi" rather than "Michael" and that he may not respond to the name Michael. It has stuck, now here he is 5th grade, same school district and I've never had to explain it again. So yes definitely send in a note or speak with them. I know my son would have just ignored them, like "whos Michael" 🤣

I do at the beginning of every year! 🤷♀️ This is our 3rd year and he's more likely to correct them now.
All his like official paperwork has the name on his birth certificate, "Kailer", but we've NEVER, a day in this child's life, called him Kailer. Not even when he's in trouble-he just gets the "Kai Leonard"! 🤣 The only people that call him Kailer are his Great Aunt and Uncle.
A LOT of people pronounce it KAY-LER when they see his full name. I just try and let em know up front he's just "Kai", like Cher-one syllable and FABULOUS.
If they know the "Kai" up front, they pronounce "Kailer" correctly when they see it on his stuff later. If that makes sense? 🤔

@leonardsquared, I LOOOOOVE different names & popular names spelled completely different! My son’s name is Jeovoni lol you already know everyone has a difficult time with that one as well 🤣

I will NEVER tell her how often I correct the KAY-LER pronunciation either! The older he's gotten, it's really gotten to be less often. If we meet a new doc or something where his full name is on his paperwork it happens more with the older folks. The ones closer to my age and younger usually say "MARLOW" to call us back then when we get close enough, they say "Is it KAY-LER or KY-LER"? At LEAST what I intended is an option for SOME people! SEE MOM, not EVERYONE thinks his name is KAY-LER! 🙄

As a teacher, I would appreciate a note with a pronunciation especially if you explain that she won’t correct anyone. I’d feel awful if I had a student all year that I’ve been calling the wrong name.
Although, reading her name they way you spelled it, I read it correctly my head.I know not everyone will though. I also teach older elementary kids so I’ll usually ask how to pronounce it or if I’m pronouncing it correctly.
