Public service announcement!! Remember to clean the pump in your washing machine annually. At a minimum. My pump was absolutely disgusting. And there was a dryer sheet of all things clogging the pump causing it to not function.

I’m going to have to agree with this. I just cleaned my MILs and it was full of disgusting cat hair

I am pretty sure all washers have a filter to clean. Look up your model and something should pop up. Also taking the drain hose off and completely rinsing it helps too. It can get soap build up/clogged with the nasty stuff it drains.
