Omg I promise this is just like Katrina all over again so this happened…….I’m down in the lobby so this older white couple and a younger New Orleans woman ( I say New Orleans woman cuz she had that lazy New Orleans accent and mulatto complexion) so the couple is checking in and the attendant was giving them their breakfast coupons so the young lady interrupted and was like I didn’t get any coupons and the man goes honey I had to pay for these…..so the lady was oh ok thanks..she walks off so the man says now see there they go trying to get things for free….talk about instant tears
And to the lady who was wondering why people just don’t evacuate for the storms see I’m not the type to ask for help of any kind but that there is just a perfect example of why I just can’t let myself ask for any type of help some people can get out for a few days but then when the evacuation becomes prolonged it’s very hard finically for a lot of people u know being displaced having to make sure ur family eats and safe shelter is not easy especially with kids u have no one to watch them so u can work can’t leave them alone somewhere…. Then u have child services ready to take the lil refugee kids …. It’s just a lot of reasons that was just one example…..sorry for the rant
@mujerstillregal, my hubby said we have some roof damage and that’s it I’m trying to stay positive but 16 hrs ago I didn’t have kids this time around I’m just worried about how all of this will affect them
@lou-lou27 I get what you mean. I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts. Sending strength so you'll get through this
How are the kids doing? I hope this hurricane will hurry up and pass so you can start moving back home and getting things done. Hang in there, the storm is passing over
@mujerstillregal, lol yes hopefully for Katrina it was literally over a year b4 we got to go back home
@lou-lou27 a year? That's a lot of hotel stays, smh. Was your home damaged?
@mujerstillregal, we had a lot of roof damage we stay outside the flood area thank goodness
This is heartbreaking. For someone like me who lives in the Midwest, I had no idea the literaly process of evacuation and how expensive it was.
Yea Nd if that’s not enough not all the locals appreciate that we are here
@lou-lou27 what a freaking horrible attitude! People fleeing for their lives. :( that's so wrong.
We stayed in a hotel for about 9wks and then we were given housing vouchers fema helped with the hotel stays Nd we were given food stamps but by no means was it easy u know learning a new city Nd new people some who don’t want u there
